Repeatedly raises theme about the Circassian genocide or the muhajirun- mass extermination and exile of Circassians (Adyghes), and of the nationalities related to them - Abazins, Abkhazians and Ubykhs during and after the Caucasian war of 1817-1864 to the territory of the Ottoman Empire. Liberated territory was populated by the Cossacks, the Armenians and the natives from the Central part of the Russian Empire.
Historically, the fierce resistance of Circassians during the warfare which was actively provoked by Turkey, France and England, has led the top military leaders of the Russian Empire to the thought of the necessity of Circassians eviction out of Russia to the territory of Turkey. In particular General adjutant Milyutin D. A., Prince Baryatinsky A. I., and also Alexander II has been telling about it.
At the same time, the resettlement wasn't an unilateral arbitrary act of Russian authorities. The program of resettlement was supported by the Ottoman Empire, which had actively enticed the mountain dwellers to move to its territory with the promise of a paradise life, and had created for this purpose in 1860 the Supreme commission for resettlement, and England which emissaries worked actively among the Circassians, convincing them to move to Turkey. Each side had its own benefits from this resettlement. Russia solved geopolitical problems, receiving strategically important territory which was immediately populated by Cossacks, and Turkey had received a large number of soldiers to solve the problems of Muslims protection from the Christian population of the Balkans. The idea of resettlement didn't cause a fierce protest from the top of the mountaineers and a considerable part of the ordinary population, therefore the character of this action was voluntary and compulsory at the same time. Compulsoriness had been caused by the eviction of the mountaineers from the ethnic territory by Russian military, and voluntariness had been shown in desire of a considerable part to leave on a permanent residence to Turkey, Turkish and English emissaries had promised a dreamland. The quantity of resettled provokes discussions in a scientific community. Researchers give different numbers, but all meet in one - there were several hundreds of thousands of people moved out.
Nevertheless, legally there was no genocide. Currently such concepts as eviction and genocide are substituted: quantity of moved equates with the number of died. Basically only public organizations are engaged in the efforts to recognize "the genocide of Circassians" by writing petitions. Nobody doesn’t collect and doesn't send the facts to the UN. Turkey can be engaged in this, but has "finger in the pie". And regarding the Circassians, Turks had invited them, hundreds of thousands had come, Turkish carriers made money on them (less than a quarter had reached alive the Turkish coast), quarantine camps in Turkey, hundreds had been dieing of hunger and diseases per day, more specific number of deaths (tens and perhaps hundreds of thousands of dead because of actions of the Turkish side - our "genocide" couldn’t reach this numbers), slavery is one of the purposes of the invitation of Circassians, etc. Turks during one of Russian-Turkish wars had ceded Circassia to Russia (true, legally Turkey couldn't control Circassia).
One of the Turkey's objectives could be the following – to return to the Circassians the land of their ancestors. And as Circassians are the citizens of Turkey now, it would be nice to give Circassians land to the Turks to locate the insulted, "a long time ago settled down".
