Did you know that Americans have been studying medicine in Cuba for years now?

The one concession they get from the American government is a direct flight from Florida to Havana.

No. I didn't know that.

But I do remember there were Mickey Mouse medical university degrees being handed out in Grenada before the invasion. The degrees weren't worth a crap though, as I remember the story.

Oh, and Doc are you still looking for someone who wanted to defend Cuba? I think I may have found one for you.

PM Castro should be visiting his homeland soon, hopefully it’s still there.

He's in Paris to help bring about the end of free speech. Like the good little dictator he aspires to be.

The med school is still there. Caribbean schools are of variable quality. It’s up to the students to make the most of their time. I’ve worked with some excellent doctors from those schools, better than many local grads.

This story about Havana Syndrome is a puzzler. Some of the newspaper reports and even academic articles make the evidence sound stronger than it is in favour of significant brain damage by an acoustic weapon but other experts think nothing has really been proved yet.

The USA had opened travel to Cuba a while back. Very quietly we closed travel to Cuba again about a month or so ago. My sister and her family went there on a Cruise got back about 2 weeks prior to the closing off of travel to Cuba. She enjoyed it but did say she was glad she didn't have to stay there over night. I got a Cuban Cigar sitting at my Apartment waiting for the right occasion to enjoy. :)

The US embargo policy (and what seems to be a new embargo-lite) has been an impressive example of failure compounded on itself despite all the evidence. The way to change Cuba is from within through trade and personal contacts. These people are in no way anti-American.

You mean "looking at the evidence" not "despite". Incompetence over 9 administrations.

The US embargo came about because the Cuban regime seized American property, nationalized it, and they never compensated the rightful American owners.

It's our policy not to let criminals profit from the use of stolen property. Here's a recent case as an example:

Mind you, the Cubans are socialists so why do they need to depend on trade with the capitalist USA anyway?

It's funny because the counter argument is the American companies loyal to (and backing) Batista and the Mob stole the property from the Cuban people first. They see it as returning the land and property to their rightful owners.

And thus, the world's most childish sandbox fight enters it's 60th year and it's 13th President.

Thus I am glad I can say I have a Cuban cigar and will smoke it at some point for an appropriate reason. Like my Buckeye's beating Michigan this year. :D

However you want to slice it the US has every right in the world to refuse trade with Cuba.

It does. But it does not have the right to force others to not trade with Cuba.

Feel free to do business with Cuba and we'll feel free not to do business with you.
