Arafat Lost Consciousness 3 Times in 24 Hours

Slipping into coma

He is done for. Israel should erupt soon.

Rev_Blair @ Thu Nov 04, 2004 5:41 am

It's already started. That suicide-bomber a couple of days ago (Arafat condemned the action btw) was just the beginning. There's going to be a power struggle among the Palestinians now and the competition is going to be judged by acts of terrorism on Israel.

If only Sharron's plan could have been executed earlier. Remove all those Jews from Gaza and West Bank. Too bad innocent children will die.

I know it sound drastic, but I wish he would have put that big wall up. Easier to patrol a wall then the streets.

The wall was a bad idea, Mario. It inflamed people and infringed on Palestinian territory.

Pulling out of the occupied territories would have been a good first step, but Palestinians also need access to the rest of the world. Israel now restricts that access.

-Mario- @ Thu Nov 04, 2004 8:09 am

I agree with you, BUT, for the sake of saving lives, they should have a wall up and divide the two population. Like I said, it is a drastic measure. Israel already occupy the place. The way I look at it, anything to prevent some innocent bystanders to die.

Rev_Blair @ Thu Nov 04, 2004 9:00 am

It doesn;t protect anybody though. It makes things worse by making them angrier.

-Mario- @ Thu Nov 04, 2004 9:12 am

It would make everybody mad, but if it would serarate both populations. Israel already took a lot of Arab land back in the sisties and seventies... Now part or Israel. It would simply make Israel bigger . Like I said, if this drastic change would save lives, so be it.

Rev_Blair @ Thu Nov 04, 2004 9:47 am

You can't completely separate the populations though, Mario. It's an impossibility.

There are reports from the Israeli press that Arafat is dead.

Rev_Blair @ Thu Nov 04, 2004 10:58 am

Now there are reports that the reports that Arafat was dead were erroneous. He has worsened since yesterday though.

It isn't assuming the worst, Avro, it is looking at the situation and appraising the most likely next step.

There was already a power struggle going on within the Palestinian government and the various dissident groups. It is unlikely that the moderate groups are suddenly going to start bombing people, but it is very likely that the radical groups will. It is also likely that the Israeli government will react with extreme violence to the actions of the radical groups and more Palestinians will move toward radicalism as a result of that.

Fucking Die Already, You Terrorist Bastard.

That's too bad.

And for Arafat... He has been loosing control for the past years. I am curious to see if they are gonna separate into factions and have some groups attacking Israel, while other groups are trying for peace. Or simply stick together and continue what they are doing now.

Rev_Blair @ Thu Nov 04, 2004 11:46 am

Thanks for that display of complete ignorance, Vic.

Arafat has been losing control over the last few years. That's exacerbated by attacks on his character from the US and Israel, but he was also far less than honest. His largest role was really a symbolic one for the last couple of years.

He was the official leader though, and he had never named or groomed a likely successor. There is a power vacuum, and there is going to be a lot of violence as various groups work to fill it.

$1:
I also am not a complete A-hole like Vic, Ugly and L boy

Which is why I don't lump you in with them, Avro. I do wonder why you call him "L boy" though...should it be "No L boy?"

I don't see much hope for a moderate taking over as Palestinian leader anytime soon. It will happen eventually...things always swing back to the middle eventually...but Arafat's death is going to leave a hole that favours the more radical in the short term.
