I got a letter in the post this morning....I'm going to end up rambling, but I'll state now and ramble later.

I got an invite to apply to go to the NATO HQ in Brussels next month!!!!

   

Holy Crap .... Good for you.... what is the occasion???

   

Well, how it came about was...

I work for the Scottish Court Service here in Scotland, and every year there's a UK and Scotland wide conference. This year, it was just for Scotland though, and it was called The Young Scotland Programme. The Scottish Court Service sends someone every year to represent them. This year I was picked to go.

So that was two weeks ago, I spent a week down in Stranraer in Dumfries & Galloway, and we spent the week debating controversial topics, news headlines etc. Really eye opening stuff.

Today I got a letter in the mail from the Institute that organised it inviting us all who attended (30 delegates in all) to apply to become Senior Fellows of the Institute. Lifetime membership. They also invited us to attend a mostly-all-expenses-paid trip to Brussels via the Eurostar to visit the NATO headquarters as guests. This will include "briefings on key NATO operations internationally, including its role in combating terrorism and weapons of mass destruction. The speakers will be high level."

How awesome??!!!!

Thanks It doesn't mean I'm going, it just means I can apply to go, there's only 35 people who CAN go, and I imagine a lot of the Senior Fellows will be applying to go...I can but try!!!

   

Thanks! If I get to go I'll definitely take it! I can see them banning camera though at the HQ...you know cause of terrorists and all that...

I should clarify though, that I should have said that they invite us to APPLY to go, not that they invite us to attend...so I've still got a bit of competition to weed out...though it sounds like they'll just draw names from a hat... :S
