anyone heard if any ME country is talking about trade embargoes on France or Germany - both countries where the cartoons have been published but of course both countries that are more powerful than Denmark, Norway and New Zealand

Always easy to pick on the “small” ones – think I will suggest Denmark gets it own carrier group – but non the less US, UK, France and Germany are one the case now and don’t think they will allow this to continue. Saudi-Arabia have already been given a call…
I'm still boycotting Danish pastries because of that Hans Island business. Of oucrse, I don't eat Danishes anyway. Still, it's the thought that counts. Take that you island-stealing Danes!

Hands off! Or we will send our Greenland division – 2 hunters with sharp spears and a dead seal – and I’m not kidding! Greenland does not look with ease on this matter at all

Yup – and you will stop smiling soon enough when you meet them in real!
Hmm - sounds a bit like some idiot who told me his 1400 year old friend would come and punish me cuz of some cartoons

I say let em boycott everyone that pisses em off. They will then have to make due with what the middle east ( less Isreal ) can produce for all their goods.

Canada should have started seizing boats from Greenland a long time ago.....
They constantly break our fishing laws, over-fish, and screw over the people of New Foundland........
As soon as we get our new killer-ice-breakers we are gonna send them to the glacier called Greenland, and break
it!

DanishViking, you need not worry too much about the threat of some Canadian super-ice-breaking warship for the following reasons:
1) Vitamin C himself will oppose the funding for such a venture as it will mean less money for Health Canada and Gay Diversity studies.
2) He'll also oppose the venture for spurious environmental reasons. "Ice breaking causes Global Warming" or some other claptrap.
3) He'll accuse any government that funds such a vessel of being "overly aggressive and militaristic and un-Canadian".
4) If it does go to sea he'll want it staffed by lesbians, queers, muslim insurgents, and peace activists.
So, yeah, you're probably right that two Danes with a spear and a dead seal would be able to hold off any attack by such a vessel in the highly unlikely event that it is approved, funded, built, staffed, and sent to sea.

Having done the odd dozen or so fisheries patrols off our east coast I can safely say that last of our worrys are the Danes or their Icelandic brethern. Now the Portaguese and the Spaniards are another story.
This link talks about a dispute between Faroese Shrimpers and Canada.....I think they are related to Greenland/Denmark....
It says they use Greenlandish and Canadian vessels.....
The problem is that vessels from Greenland don't respect Canada's fishing quotas....
Part of the Grand Banks is in Canadian waters, and part is not....dispute...dispure....dispute....

That's a trade I'll take any day of the week. We start making our own falafel and pitas and they can worry about making cellphones, computers and cars for themselves.
