BartSimpson BartSimpson:
Today's news of the leaked nine page EU document that advances an EU superstate along with a continental military that erases the national sovereignty of the member states raises a question for me and I thought I'd ask.

If the EU adopts a hostile relationship to the UK (which so far they are doing) will Canada choose to stand with the UK or side with Brussels? NATO ministers are justly concerned that the EU will erase the NATO alliance in favor of an EU military by forcing the member EU states to invoke Article 13 of the North Atlantic Treaty.

Things are moving too fast over there right now and we could find ourselves confronted with this question before the year is out.

I don't get why anyone would be surprised that the EU will morph into a single state sometime in the future, I mean it's called the European UNION.

As to the poll, people's votes will depend on where their livelihood lies - anyone who owns a business that exports products will choose the larger market (EU), while traditionalists will the UK because of our history.

Until things shake out, we should offer support to both sides and hedge our bets.

Frankly, I'm picking neutrality right now, because Britain is a fallen country and the EU looks like it's only moderately less corrupt than FIFA or the Olympics, which all of us know are corrupt as hell.

If hostilities were to ever break out, I say offer asylum to the 10 or 20 million worthwhile Brits and leave the chavs and other useless gits to deal with their decision.

It's a false choice. If it ever did come to pass it's another good reason why we should ditch the monarchy so we don't get dragged into some foreign spat.

Break-up of the EU would greatly weaken Europe as the US becomes more concerned with Asia. Nothing would please Putin more.

I know this is going to be hard for you to understand, but...

Putin and Russia is not the enemy.

That is very hard for me to understand, and Eastern Europe shares my confusion. You are going to have to explain it to me very simply.

Eastern Europe is in it for the money. Except the Poles, but they have been yelling about
Germany and / or Russia for the past 500 years, usually both at the same time.
Their perpetual problem.

The West has it's spheres of influence, why is it so criminal for Russia
to have some, or to defend their friends ?

Russia doesn't have friends and they like it that way. The English thought they were kinda pals with them until Russia sent a few thousand cops and soldiers disguised as "fans" to Euro 2016 to pick fights and kick the shit out of anyone wearing a British shirt.

Screw them! Last time the UK had favored trade agreements they sent us Hillmans, Sunbeams, Austins. sports cars that couldn't run headlights a defroster and wipers at the same time and fell apart after 3 years. Plus food so damn bland it made a Big Mac seem gourmet.
And I'm tired of my whole life watching Lizzie disintegrate into a bag of wrinkles on the back of the $20
To this day they try to make us believe the Metis are all French cuz they don't want to admit half of them are Scots and the Englishmen all ran home with their money.

Then again, the other side's selling overpriced cars made from old U-boats and Krupp ovens as well as flogging cosmetics under a brand "that removes wrinkles by collaborating with your skin"....

Nuetral. I say neutral.
