Prosecutors willing to squeeze Pecker to get to Trump
I came home from driving the bus to find my wife laughing over this piece on the editorial page of the Saskatoon Express. Made me laugh too.

CURRENT ISSUE
Every day for more than three years, I have been captivated by all things Trump.
I need a fix at least five days a week. I try to take weekends off while Trump is golfing. He has spent 153 days golfing during his 600-day presidency. He golfs more than Tiger Woods.
I wrote a column about Trump after his meeting with Kim Jong-un. It was one of the few times I have wandered outside the city limits for material.
A fresh batch of dirt on Donald has a local angle.
It involves a man named David Pecker. It is an unfortunate name, but a headline writer’s dream. Here is a headline I found on a column on a U.S. website: “Prosecutors willing to squeeze Pecker to get to Trump.”
Pecker heads AMI, the parent company of the National Enquirer. He is also a long-time friend of Trump’s who has been hiding skeletons in a closet for the illegitimate president for decades. Actually, the secrets were hidden in a safe. It must have been a bigly safe.
Before we go further, it should be mentioned that until recently, Pecker was on the board of directors for Postmedia. How the man who runs the National Enquirer would become a board member of a Canadian newspaper chain is baffling. (Insert silly joke here: One is filled with fake news and the other is the National Enquirer. I don’t mean that but I like to amuse myself.)
Anyway, Postmedia owns the StarPhoenix. So Pecker had a hand in making some of the decisions that filtered their way down to the SP. See, it’s a local story.
In Pecker’s safe was information about Trump that is said to have dated back to the 1980s. That safe is now empty. Does Pecker have the documents? Have they been destroyed? Have they been turned over to those investigating Trump? Are they in the vault at the StarPhoenix?
During the election campaign, Trump and his lawyer wanted to purchase the contents of the safe. Trump was worried about the material getting into the wrong hands. There is a recording of him pretty much saying so.
Pecker’s role was to buy stories from those who had the goods on Trump and then spike them. It is a process called catch and kill. Payments were made to X number of people, but their stories never hit the newsstands or the cashier area at your favourite grocery store.
There is nothing illegal about any of this, as far as I can tell. Here’s where it gets dicey.
One of Trump’s catches and kills was a $150,000 payment to a former Playboy Playmate named Karen McDougal. Trump had an affair with her and she was paid $150,000 in hush money just before the 2016 election via Pecker. She quit hushing earlier this year after suing to get released from the agreement. Maybe she even gave the money back. The Donald, which is a very mob-sounding name, would want his cash back, with an exorbitant interest attached.
From where did the money come?
Federal investigators have granted Postmedia’s former board member immunity, meaning Pecker is going to rat out Trump and save his own butt.
Specifically, prosecutors want Pecker to provide information on Trump’s lawyer, who has pleaded guilty to eight charges, including campaign finance violations regarding the source of the hush money. Did Trump commit the same violations? The lawyer said Trump did. Now Pecker will shed more light on it.
Postmedia CEO Paul Godfrey, in a one-sentence statement, thanked Pecker for his contributions to the company.
It’s crazy that a person with loosey goosey ties to the StarPhoenix is going to play a key role in bringing down the president of the United States.

In the last 600 days I've had 170 days called 'weekends', 46 vacation days, and 35 holidays.
By that standard DJT doesn't take enough time off.

You’re not the President. What’s funny is that Trump made such a big deal about Obama’s dayls off, which weren’t anything unusual, before Trump became the all-time day iff king. Just shows the hypocrisy of that orange scumbag and his followers

Bart's, and Obama's, vacations didn't cost the taxpayer a billion dollars worth of extra security and travel expenses either.

Donald J. Trump
I find golf to be a royal pita, and if I was given a choice of golf or work, i’d go with work. Nothing ruins a pleasant walk in the country more than golf!

Personally I don’t see any thing wrong with someone like the POTUS taking “down time “ as the job just ruins people’s health. Trump, however, made it clear that he disapproved of Obama doing it AND said that he would not.

You've gotta admit that there's a reason for extra security though.

Yes, flying to Florida to go to his own Golf resort. Where, incidentally, the Secret Service has to pay for rooms and meals that enriches the President.
