polemarch, you should say things like that only to the french. if your going to say something like that, you must say it to all of us, including yourself. almost everycountry in the world is to blaim for not helping the Jews sooner. Its just that no one wanted to increase the conflict like in WW1. also, i notice that must be typing on a computer, while thousands of children are starving right now. Im not blaiming you, i do the same thing. I just wanted to point out that we are still corrupted by our greed, and we still do the same horrible things. (gee, this is all depressing stuff, but its life...there will always be poor, and rich. Enjoy your life no matter what you have)

   

No doubt happyman , ALL the Allied powers turned away thousands of Jews prior to the holocaust - refusing to allow them to immigrate . Most of those turned away eventually perished in the camps . No country is without blame , although suprisingly, fascist Italy bucked Nazi Germany several times and refused the deportation of many Italian Jews .

   

Just finished watching a movie called "Uprising". It tells of how after Poland fell the Jews where hearded into ghetto's. After suffrening numeriousacts of discrimination the Nazi's begin sending the Jews to the Death Camps. However there are some Jews who won't go quietly. In April of 1943 the Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto fight back in what is known as the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. For about a month the Jewish fighters with little training and few weapons hold off the Nazi's. This is longer then some nations lasted. In May the Nazi's shell, burn and gas the Ghetto to the ground. Many of the Jews escape to fight with the Polish Home Army. For months after the Uprising German soldiers stayed out of the ghetto at night for fear of Jewish "Ghosts". Remanents of the Jewish fighters.
