The Amazing Story Behind Tho Global Warming Scam
$1:
However, I do believe there needs to be more real science, without political interference from either side, done on the subject.
There is
plenty of real science done on the subject. Perhaps you've been listening too much to the people who'd rather attack global warming science by spreading confusion or latching onto very small bad aspects or minor dodgy assumptions made (c.f. original article and complaints about increased taxation and biofuels), rather than doing decent science themselves :p
That's a neat little gizmo Leperous. Is http://arxiv.org/ the science journal for Cornell University? That's my first guess without searching.
I'm just browsing through right now. I'm finding papers which appear to add support to the anti-AGW side, as well as others which support the pro. That's fun. Oreskes and Peiser could enjoy themselves in there.
Thanks. I'm going to take a closer look now.
Nah, arXiv is basically a free repository for scientific papers produced by, well, anybody in the world, if they send it in.
But they put up anything, they're not refereed like in a journal, so you do still have to be wary: I suggest that you only give much credence to the stuff that says it's going into a journal on the title page, and ignore the rest
Another good search tool is Google Scholar but chances are you all won't be able to pull up the paper without paying money, but if you find something good maybe I can get it for you since I'm a PhD student

What are you working on?
Zipperfish Zipperfish:
A molecule that radiates in the infrared spectrum is a greenhouse gas.
Do I really need to say
mystical, magical molecule?

I suspect you do, but only because you don't understand.

What are you working on?

I'm doing a Maths PhD, modelling (Newtonian) neutron stars using spectral methods. That basically means instead of (x,y,z) co-ordinates I do it in (r,theta, phi) spherical and then use spherical harmonics to represent the angles......
So a bit off-topic but if you want to know about those or supernovae or compact objects in general just ask :p

Does the mass at the center of a black hole have volume or is it a mathematical point?

Wow, and to think my thesis (MSc) was on mosquitoes! I remember getting on the elevator in the physics building at U of M. with another biology (ecology) student and several Maths profs. They were talking about one guys research. The other biology student and I got of on one floor and the profs went on. After getting off the elevator she turned to me and said "WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY TALKING ABOUT!" Good on ya!
Edit:
And thanks for the link.
