This video from 60 Minutes Australia is an interesting watch:
Inevitable at this point. The west has outsourced production for profit decades ago and now they have the means and the numbers to push back against the status quo imposed upon it by external powers. To them this is righting a wrong and wiping away a stain of shame that was imposed upon them centuries before. Just google the opium wars.
They will have their pound of flesh and they have grown fat off of the decadence of the west. They are nearing their zenith in power and influence now and soon. Aging demographics will force their had if they want to plateau and remain the lackey to other world powers or to usurp them. Their aggressive expansion and trade packs into Africa, Eastern Europe and South America show that they are looking to create a new empire in their image. We either need to confront the rising tide or acquiesce to it but have no doubt the tide is rising.
I don't disagree with you - I have a feeling one of these times they invade Taiwan's airspace, there's going to be an accident (kind of like the 2001 US spy plane incident over the South China Sea) or something and that will be the light that sparks an invasion.
That in turn, will prompt a armed response from the US, Japan, and maybe Australia. Where it goes from there is anyone's guess.
