Why Are We Rescuing These "Canadians?"

Americans Have their Own Problems
$1:
Before being evacuated on U.S.-chartered ships, Americans are being asked to sign promissory notes to repay the U.S. government for the journey.
That demand outraged House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who said the United States has an obligation to get citizens out of harm's way without "quibbling over payment."
The article also mentions lack of speed to get their own citizens out.

This is a ridiculous thread. I though you we're better then this MCB.
This is a family, a Canadian family. That lives and works(studies) in Montréal. They all spoke fluent french. 4 children, their mother, their grand-mother and a grand-oncle. The father, resting in a life-or-death state, is a succesful pharmacist in Montréal.
Truly MCB, you really are an imbecile.
You forgot the bit about them supporting Hezbollah.
And you are unable to see anything but the two words you picked out of their statement.
I think its a pretty big issue Robair. When a citizen of this country tells us on TV that they support Hezbollah.
It may seem like an insignificant fact to you but people supporting Islamic terror groups should not be in this country and I believe these 'two words' as you put ,it are pretty big words to gloss over, but then I suppose you've never lived under terrorist threat or been exposed to what terrorists do.
I on the other hand was in Beruit in 1982. I was in Cyprus when the remnants of 200 plus USMC members were brought back in body bags and I've lived through IRA bombings and seen friends killed by terrorists. Those 'two words' are a pretty big deal to me.
Don't be an apologist for terrorists within our country old chap.
That's a bad thing in case you need that fact to be pointed out to you.

I would like to see Nancy Pelosi move to Canada. She is just a whiney bitch. Ok... she is our whiney bitch. Fact is we are not quibbling over payment. Folks get evacuated, period. It is not free. There is nothing in the budget for mass evacuations from war zones. Technically, we could wait until Congress allocates funds. However, we are saying, "Sign this note and you are out of here", no fuss, no muss.
Speed? You can never try to escape death fast enough. America has vast resources offshore. Folks are getting yanked out as we speak. You want more details so your Hezbolla friends can target our folks? I think not.

Oh wait, they support Hezbollah. I guess they we're all going to use guns and fire and kill thousands of people on their VACATION in Lebanon...

I think it's a pretty big issue EyeBrock. When a citizen of this country loses eight family members. What they said is that
they are not affiliated with Hezbollah. Go read it, it's there. They also said that Hezbollah provided protection for the area which is probably how it a appeared to anybody who grew up in that mess.

Once again, they went out of their way to state that they have nothing to do with Hezbollah. They lived in the area and understandably don't see Hezbollah as the enemy.

Well maybe try reading the rest of the words. Top to bottom left to right, group of words is called a sentance, group of sentances a paragraph etc etc.

I'm not and no shit. You are still taking two words out of a statement made by somebody who was at the time grieving the loss of eight family members and using it to justify leaving Canadians in the middle of a fight between Hezbollah and Isreal.

Its only the armed branch of the Hezbollah that are terrorists. The Hezbollah party itself is the only symbol of hope for most Lebanese. Its a poltical party, at its roots.
grainfedprairieboy grainfedprairieboy:
Holy Moly. Hezbollah was created to attack Israel. Firing rockets, suicide bombers etc are not for the hell of it but as part of a concerted effort to drive Jews from the middle east. They will not rest until they are either destroyed or they have achieved their mission. The only barrier to peace in the region is not Israel but the Muslims who will tolerate nothing less then the complete eradication of the Jewish State. How do you negotiate? What compromise would make this all stop if only the Jews would cooperate? There is nothing. Half the countries in the region even refuse to acknowledge that Israel exists. How is it that so many of the posters who support the islamofascists are the first to be all aghast when there is a hint of intolerance in Canada?
No... Hezbollah was created to drive the Israelis out of Southern Lebanon, yes there are radical elements who want to wipe Israel off the map but the only reason those radical elements have any power at all is because they exploit legitimate Lebanese greivances, the same is/was true of Hamas, Tamil Tigers, the IRA etc etc.
Violence begets violence, the only way you will overcome terrorists is by marginalizing them to the extent where they realize that further violence is not in their interests and they give up or they become irrelevant.
Meet a few of these "Canadians.
Baschera Assaf, wife of dean Assaf who moved to Nova Scotia in 1957. Mr.Assaf has been a tax paying business owner for more than 48 years. Mrs. Assaf is visiting her family in Lebanon.
Moe Assaf, his wife and their two children. Mr. Assaf moved to Nova Scotia in 1970 and has been a tax paying business owner for more tan 35 years. They are in Lebanon visiting family.
These people are as Canadian as the rest of us. They have been working and paying taxes longer than some of you have been alive. How can anyone say that we should abandon them because they have the label "Lebanese- Canadian. Shame!

Do you support Hezbollah by the way?

Anyone who supports a terrorist organisation does not deserve any sympathy. Trying to spin it into a lesser evil shows you are a supporter of terrorist organisations.
Those thousands of Quebecers you speak of should be in front of a judge being tried for treason.

I'll draw your attention to what our government says about Hezbollah.
I'm sure that when they are not killing jews and oppressing south Lebanon they are all very nice chaps.
http://www.psepc.gc.ca/prg/ns/le/cle-en.asp$1:
Hizballah, meaning "Party of God", is an Islamist terrorist organization based in Lebanon. Hizballah seeks to restore Islam to a position of supremacy in the political, social, and economic life of the Muslim world. The objectives of Hizballah, as derived from its February 16, 1985 political manifesto, include removing all Western influences from Lebanon and from the Middle East, as well as destroying the state of Israel and liberating all Palestinian territories and Jerusalem from what it sees as Israeli occupation, with no option for any negotiated peace. Guided by these goals, Hizballah's ultimate objective is to establish a radical Shi'a Islamist theocracy in Lebanon. Hizballah has been responsible for car bombings, hijackings and kidnapping Western and Israeli/Jewish targets in Israel, Western Europe and South America. Hizballah operates principally in Lebanon, but has also been active in Europe, North and South America, and Africa.
They seem like a jolly bunch really eh?
I'm sure those 17 chaps from Mississauga are all very nice guys too.
They just wanted to kill Canadians.
I'm sure that kind of stuff is well ok in Quebec, after all, you guys had thousands in the FLQ, it's exactly the same eh?

Yes, I am running away... ha ha.. (I just can't do flame wars). U.S. should not be called for responding slowly. We are active, but we are not going to give all the details, that would benefit the enemy. We would land troops to protect American citizens, if we had to. I am sure that we have folks on the ground around there, as do the Brits and Canadians. But no sense in advertising the fact. You will have to restate your question for me if I haven't answered it. Rock on, bro.
