Why is Nato falling short in Afghanistan?

Soldiers pay taxes too so it cancels out the argument.
Not really. Soldiers may pay taxes, but they don't create wealth.
No, they
really do pay taxes. The same taxes as everyone else. My point wasn't directed to who creates wealth and all the other crap being flung around in here, and it wasn't directed at anyone specifically. The "I pay your taxes" retort is solely used in an attempt to put a public employee (of any version) "in their place." It's childish, pathetic and beneath anyone who has a shred of common sense.

but they don't create wealth
Oh really? Members of the military and their families create a shitload of wealth for local businesses. Look at any community that has had a base shutdown and ask their businesses if they've seen a downturn in profits.

As opposed to being condescending to anyone who isn't a soldier?
I deserve to decide where my tax money is spent. Does that mean I get to order soldiers around? Of course not. But if I am contributing to what is essentially a "defense fund", I deserve to have a say, through some vehicle, as to where it is spent.

That is the other side of the coin and it goes without saying. I figured everyone would have realized that.

You have that means, either through your MP or your vote.
