Hello Fellow Canadians,
Now,I will give you a very quick, why I am here.I met my wife on the Internet in 2000.Brought her too Canada in Jan.2001 and got married in Dec.2001.My wifes father took ill and so I moved over here too the U.K in Dec 2002 so she can be with her family.Unfortunately my wifes father past away in 2005 and now once her mom passes away, then we will be back in Canada. Now this is not the problem, although I miss Canada with all my heart.I made a special trip to Ontario just last year to surprise my mom & dad as my dad turned 70 and I turned 50 3 days later and it worked perfectly...The first time I have ever seen my dad in tears.Ok now that ends this part of the intro.
My Delema is this.Since being here in the U.K for the last 6 years,I have found that they think I am from America. When I talk they ask, what part of the states are you from, my answer is I'M Not...I'm a little further North and they then change thier tune...Oh yeah,I thought it sounded a little different,or I get...Same Place.
Now with respect,I have never been keen on American anything.I believe that Canada is my place for everything.I currently reside in the U.K as i have said and for my wife and can't wait too get back too Canada. My wife is so happy and very protective of me as once the people know i am Canadian, they tend to become a bit friendlier and in a good way if you know what I mean.
A few years ago,I was at a TV show called The Paul O'Grady Show in London. Just before the show started they pulled a vote for the sexiest male in the Audience. At the end it was between me and this other guy and with my Toronto Maple Leaf shirt on,I got voted as the Sexiest Male...That was really cool [flag] [flag] .
Anyway,How would you react if people thought you were from the states even though I had on a Canadian Hat saying I AM CANADIAN.

welcome from a guy who jumps from Slovakia/Spain, and going to Italy in the summer :)

Since I can usually tell the diff between Limeys and Scotties
(having grown up around a few)
I used to just reverse it.. ask the Englisher what part of Scotland,
and vice versa...now thats changed, and

I always ask them what part of Australia they are from :)

usually shuts them up pretty quickly

Welcome to CKA

When I was in the UK.....quite a while ago, every time someone called me an American I would say "excuse me...I am Canadian". The about face in their attitude was immediate, and usually apologetic. Quite often it ended up with....have one on me. It seemed the farther north I got the friendlier the people were (and everyone had family in Canada), up in northern Scotland was great, what I can remember of it... [B-o] [B-o] 8O 8O
