I am a member of the Conservative party and believe in the principles of small government, an elected Senate, and more power for the provinces. As a rural Canadian I have witnessed the severe lack of representation from all rural areas due to the large number of MPs in urban areas. I believe an elected Senate would be a good start. In addition, a Senate based on the idea of 3 Senators from each province might be a way to address the imbalance. This, of course, would not happen quickly but it is something I strongly believe should be discussed and possibly presented to the voters in the form of a referendum.

   

Rural Canadians tend to be overrepresented in Parliament, actually.
