Try to go in mid-March for the St. Patricks Day festival, but don't ever expect good weather

Welcome aboard - be careful, some of the inmates aren't very friendly! ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif)

So, Vancouver in other words.

The best St. Patties' day I don't completely remember so far has been in Montreal. I hope Dublin can live up to that!

If you do make it to Dublin, never ever, ever, under any circumstances at all, refer to it as St. Patties Day. Ever. Immediate deportation would be the best of the many possible outcomes.
It's St. Paddy's or St. Patricks Day, no exceptions or allowances!
Most unusual Paddy's Day I've ever spent was in New Delhi!
(It's also my birthday)

Strange thing that, it seems the majority of our new "members" come from New Delhi or thereabouts although they most often claim to be located in Toronto.....

I shall remember that annunciation! D's, not t's, or I get the snake treatment.
Ahh, St Patrick's Day, the one day when everyone claims Irish Ancestry. Even Indians.

And my birthday falls usually within a week of that day as well!

Thanks for that. I walked past The Spire earlier so I'm pretty sure I'm in Dublin.
I'm sure a quick IP search can verify location if it's an issue with the site. Shame to routinely suspect new members arbitrarily though, it's not the way to win new posters.

What's wrong if they are from India ?

Nothing at all. Unless they're claiming they're from someplace else. And those that do claim so are almost always filthy, rotten spammers with horrid English skills so they don't really fool anyone

Having said all that I guess I should be polite
Welcome to CKA, Claudia.

It might be nice reading a non-North American POV on here. We have Martin who lives in Europe but he's just an expat Canucklehead

Quite true, but that is the fact of modern life. Most people claiming to be 'Canadians' in 'Toronto' we know to be 'South Asians' from 'Bangalore' or 'New Dehli' from their very first sentence.
Every once in a Blue Moon one of them slips by because they have exceptional English skills.

Or they copied the sentence from someone who does.
And the one or two a year that do turn out to be genuine people not looking to sell us things, ends up going on some erratic rant and is never heard from again.

whadayagonnado?

It's a shame to put new people on the defensive though, it comes across as hostile at worst, even if that's not intended, and lacking in welcome at best.
If the shillers and spammers make themselves apparent soon enough, then theres nothing to be lost by waiting until they do - and applying the banhammer.
Voicing suspicion to genuine people just means new posters won't stay around long enough to put in the effort if they sense what appears to be hostility and the site will just become an echo chamber with a core of posters that doesn't change.

Truer words were never written. I hope you will ignore the implication, and stick around?
Ah maybe.
Sure why not? Things are slow in my Chennai call centre, so I might as well.

Eeeecellent! If we can't keep you entertained between taking Snuggie orders, we aren't doing our job.
Can you get us a discount on those snuggies?
