I already posted this in the Alberta forum, but I guess it doesn't hurt to post it here while introducing myself.
I'm an 18 year old Yankee, computer geek/guitarist.
I've wanted to move to Canada for as long as I can remember.
My grandpa has a cabin somewhere in the middle of nowhere in sask.
Currently enrolled in college.
I had some questions about Calgary.
I am curious what opinion you all have of the city and the University of Calgary. I was thinking about applying to the school this year. I know very little and am not sure if the information I have isn't littered with "buy from us" propaganda.
Do you think the fact that I'm from the US would effect me becoming a student/resident?
What is the city like? I can see it is fairly large, almost twice the size of Denver, is it similar to big American cities?
How is the college? Stuck up-spoiled rich kids?
I'm already fed up with that.
Well howdy ...
Welcome to Canadaka!
P.S. don't believe everything you see and read...
Welcome!
Calgary is an awesome city to live in. Lots to do, great people and it's close to the mountains. Overall, it's a pretty fun and safe place to live. I lived there for 16 years and can't wait to go back.
The U of C, well, I think it depends on what you want to major in. I've heard lots of different things about it, both good and bad...just like any other school I guess
As far as being a US citizen, you'll pay a lot higher tuition. You might want to consider living in Canada for a year before going to school and getting your Canadian citizenship.
Hope this helps!
Welcome man
Nice Sg in your avatar. Do you own it?? What kinda finish is that?? Looks kinda neat
I wish I could afford an SG Supreme(~$2000), right now I have a red SG standard(barely afford it), which I bought recently. My first guitar was a black Epiphone Les Paul Special. I'd post a pic in my Profile but I don't have a scanner or a digital camera.
Dont listen to these nutty people. Go to Edmonton, way better. Calgary is just too blaaaah. Uof A is better.
