But it looks like mtbr is right Flames are off to San Jose.
Just wondering but mtbr are you in Calgary, and cheering for someone else?
Does that mean you are transplanted from Edmonton?

just like the Liberals are not the "natural governing party of Canada"

I've been in Calgary since 1970...not from Edmonton

   

If you live in Alberta and vote Liberal you are either an Alberta separatist hoping for the winning conditions or a narcissist.

   

I first came to Calgary in 1966.
I left the PC party to join the LPC in 2005.
Left the Habs fan section and joined the Flames in 1980

I have been red all along, my political party was devoured and I am still mourning the loss. I supported Dion because I believed and still do that he can and will change the culture of that old Liberal party and will change politics in Canada if the dinosaurs in every party don't eat him first.

Who knows how the Flames will perform but I would rather meet Minnesota in the 1st round.

So you're not actually a bred Albertan but rather an ROC migrant or immigrant.



So then you were obviously always a Liberal as the old PC party was indistinguishable from the then Liberal party in policy.



A person should always cheer for the hometown team.



Your party lost its way along time ago when it went so far to the left the actual Conservatives in the party were forced to create Reform.



Just to be clear: You quit the old PC party because it was merged and swung right and instead joined a party that you believe has a poor "culture" but by supporting it's new leader you hope it can evolve into something?

The LPC is openly hostile to Alberta. Do you believe that the social position of the Liberals outweighs the overall negative impact these governments have on the people of this province?

   

I still laugh every time I think of the last Liberal campaign slogan in Calgary


"VOTE THE WEST IN" admitting the Liberals completely ignored Calgary.

Born in New Brunswick. My four children were all born and raised in Calgary.

My guess is that you may support the Reform Party. I am basing that on your style of communication. For the rest of the country, the Progressive Conservative party was a great national party that did focus on the economy and balanced government support in the arts, culture and social programs.

We both agree that this conservative party is nothing like the old PC party. I guess that Stephen Harper feels the same way since he removed all the photos of former Progressive Conservative Prime Ministers from the House of Common Conservative lounge/hall and replaced them with photos of himself.

I joined the Liberals because they had better policies than the conservatives. The Liberals also have a better record in balancing the federal fiscal budget and expenditures. I suspected that the New Conservatives would display the same blind spot that George Bush has shown with respect to appropriate government expenditures. And it seems I am right as already the conservative government has placed the federal government in a precarious situation.

I worked with the Alberta conservative government as a public school trustee for 7 years and also witnessed an inability of our local provincial conservatives to plan and prioritize expenditures. This has left our wealthy province with a relatively weak infrastructure. The Conservatives have abandoned their principles of sound financial management. I find the federal Liberals share my values of the prudent conservative approach to taxation and spending.

Since you asked, I strongly believe the country cannot afford to elect Stephen Harper, not financially, not socially and particularly not environmentally. The Liberals from other parts of Canada like many other Canadians, want to understand Albertans.

For the record us Albertans seem to be the hostile ones. That includes both you and me.
