What an idiot "She has a gun! I know I'll throw this threw the door and come inside"

Apparently, he was on drugs, that can explain it all. Or maybe it was a "suicide-by-homeowner", I guess it's as effective over there as a "suicide-by-cop" would be elsewhere!

The best protection ever : a shotgun and a law to tolerate cowboy-alike behaviours! Yeeeehaah!

The only problem I see here was resolved when he shot it.

Well she did what she had to. But she likely would have been better off locking herself in the bathroom. She's going to have to get counseling on this one for sure. It sounds like she took it hard.

Depends, not all homes have locks on the bathroom doors. She said she didn't really have any place to lock herself in.

Not to mention she said she had a large shotgun. If he got into the bathroom, can't really defend yourself in a bathroom with a large shotgun with limited space. Atleast you'd think.

Do feel free to offer asylum to all of our criminals so they'll be safe from all us gun-toting and law-abiding types.

her house is her castle, not just the bathroom. imho, if it came down to the woman having to defend herself in court, i feel her yard is her castle, too.

My bathroom door is hollow and has a cheap home Depot handel on it, my 10 year old could punch through it in one try, she did what she had to, this is why she had a gun in the forst place. Sure she took it hard, she obviously has some respect for human life.

$1:
911 Emergency Caller Heard Shooting Intruder
12:58pm UK, Tuesday December 08, 2009
Emma Rowley, Sky News Online

A recording has emerged of a dramatic emergency
call made by a woman who shot dead an intruder.

Donna Jackson, 57, told the man who was breaking into her
Oklahoma house that she had a gun and was prepared to use
it, according to local officials.

But Billy Dean Riley ignored her warning and smashed through
a glass door to enter her rural home in Lincoln County in the
early hours of Friday.

In the recording of Ms Jackson's 911 call, she can be heard
telling the operator: "I don't want to have to kill this man, but I’ll
kill him graveyard dead ma'am."

The operator replies: "I understand."

Ms Jackson continues: "He's walking back and forth on
the porch. He looks to be an older man, I don't want to kill him.

"He's going to make it in, please hurry ma'am. I think he's
drunk. He doesn't know where his pick-up's at. God, I don't
want to kill this man."

Loud crashes signal 53-year-old Riley breaking into her home,
before a single gun shot is heard.

Ms Jackson then cries: "Please dear God, I think I killed him.
Please Father in heaven, oh my God."

Riley had crashed his pick-up truck near to Ms Jackson's home.

Joan Herd, the operator who handled the call, told news
website News9.com: "For me listening to the call, the hardest
part was hearing her pray for forgiveness, being put in a
position that no one should ever have to be put into."

The case is being investigated, but it is thought likely Ms Jackson's
actions will be covered by state laws allowing self-defence.
