Might be voice in the wilderness, but I tell everyone who didn't vote because 'their candidate' could never win that they just assured that he or she never would.
At least you get your chance in Canada to vote for NDP, Green, Commies, Independents and they do get seats and get heard.
Exactly.
Provincially I haven't voted for the NDP or Liberals.........ever. What I have done since the Socreds highjacked the Liberal party is to vote for either the BC Refederation Party or the BC Conservative Party both losing propositions but I did it because even knowing they wouldn't win I could then make the claim that although I did my civic duty and participated in a process people fought and died for it wasn't me who helped bring the province to the state of disrepair.
The interesting thing is that two elections ago the BC Refederation Party Candidate in my riding garnered a grand total of 4 votes and two of them were my wife and I so, I'm pretty sure that the other two were him and his wife.

I hear you on this one FOG. A couple of provincial elections ago I voted Green for the same reasoning. Also because I preferred the candidate over the others that were running for the "main" parties.
I wish there were more Independent candidates out there. People known in their communities that would be more likely to vote on issues representative of what the people want as opposed to having to vote along with what the party wants.
