Tonight on 60 minutes (check your local listings) they are going to air a report on the oilsands up here in Fort Mac.
I know most of you guys in the east don't give a rats ass about us but for those of you with an inquisitive mind I'm sure you'll find it interesting. Also it will be nice to see it from an american point of view.Hell, you'll even see my nickname in action,a 797 cat haul truck, biggest there is in the world.
btw...I make a small cameo appearance in the background but I ain't telling ya where.

There was a couple bigger trucks in Brazil I think,450 tonners but they werent cat.
Now the 140's (pictured below) are tiny little things.
Do the 797's do 37 mph also?

Nope....top speed is 64 klicks which is 39 mph.
Oh btw,I never talked to Kirby last night,he was in steepbank and I was in Millenium and I was late getting into the dry so I also missed him on the bus.I did talk to Bill Sallisbury and yeah he told me who double header is lol.
I never knew wild Bill Desjardins had that for a nic.Bill S didn't know why he is called that cause he said that was before his time.
We're off for six now so next cycle I'll talk to Kirb.

He was a lube man when a pinhole in the line shot grease into his finger and they had to cut it off, when he was in rehab he got a date with what he thought was a chick but it was a tranny so he got called double header.

I know if it was me I wouldnt have told anyone let alone the whole crew.

Unless you want a shower,it's like being in the dry.
EDIT-next time you see him ask him if he's still doing Wendy from the valley.
He may know her better as foxy W

Rest assured...I'm going to razz Bill and he won't know where I'm getting the info..

Well I just watched it.In my opinion it was well done and I think it just might give us more respect from the yanks..Bravo to 60 minutes.
797 @ Sun Jan 22, 2006 9:28 pm
Wow..I posted the same thing on a USA forum and it went over good..
Canucks are to complacent about world matters let alone internal matters.
Like I said you take Alberta for granted....so sad..

Hey! We posted pictures.
Did they?

No they didn't..
They were more interested in facts...and yes they were surprised (in a good way) about how little they really knew about us up here in Fort Mac.

Sorry.
I know enough about Ft Mac... so I doubt I'd be surprised by what 60 Minutes had to say.
And I like pictures.
I like pictures too Lily..
But to be honest with you,I got a better responce from the yanks than I did from fellow canucks..This saddens me,for it makes me think how complacent canucks have become.
I posted something in the interest of canada and i got squat in replys but south of the border poeple were asking me all kinds of questions and they really showed interest.
But here...huh...makes me wonder at times..

I never got to watch it but they have a good article about it on their webpage. The Oil Sands Of Alberta
Maybe Iceowl can get a job here and pay for his own tuition. I'm just saying.

I watched it as well. Nicely done piece I gotta say. Makes me misty for my mining days, of course my truck was significantly smaller at 60 tonne fully loaded. But then it was a 3m high by 3m wide truck in a tunnel 4m by 4m so it provided its own challenges.

Your fellow Canucks are more than likely asking less questions becuase they already know more about it than the Yanks.
Rick Mercer visited Fort Mac earlier this year, you can look up the video in his archives. It's one of his better ones I think...
