I grew up with country music - But a good Country Song has some critical components - Good beat - and an excellent story to tell or feeling that are expressed.

So this Thread is solely for C&W Music and the varying types that fall under C&W.
A few samples of what I mean - and I also like them as well

Can't stand the stuff myself, but hell, to each their own.

   

BUT... I do like quite a few C&W influenced rock songs.

   

That's more folk rock than country.

   

The Red Hots' version of the song spent one week on the Hot Country Songs charts in October 1994.

   

   

There's so much music nowadays that seems to cross genres. Were Elvis a performer today, he'd likely be listed as country. 'I'm on fire', by Springsteen has a definite country sound, as does Poison's, 'Every Rose has a thorn' and a few Bon Jovi tunes too.
