I was thinking about this the other day. Some of you might recall that one of my recurring themes is that I believe the EU is Germany and France conquering Europe together what neither of them was able to do on their own.

So here is what France did on their own:

Here's what Germany did on their own:

And here's what they've done together:

The commonality shared is geographical. The EU is not an empire imposed on peoples but an association of countries that has brought huge benefits in prosperity. It makes sense for relatively small nations to band together like this and form an effective trading bloc.

Oh you're never gonna sell that to these guys. Fake news, fake news....

You don't know much about the EU empire. :lol:
Almost every country now has 50% of the population ready to leave,
but no government is now willing to call a vote on it.

The trading bloc was the original idea of the EU, and it worked well enough;
until 1992, when it all changed, and Brussels went full bore on the EUSSR.

The EU is no gulag. Its sovereign states free to leave at any time. However, membership has its privileges. Look at the poor old Brits afraid to take the jump. 2 years on, they still can't decide what sort of deal they want.

There are enough Brussels' bribes to keep the politicians in line,
and make sure no one leaves.
Sovereign state ? Not anymore, yes just look at the UK, one of the most
powerful members. Imagine a little country like Latvia or Slovakia trying
something like that.

The EU is flawed and in need of reform but it’s not a disaster. Europe will need to work together in some sort of association of states if it is to avoid becoming yet again an obscure Asian peninsula.

The usual Russian trolls and Yankee big bad gummint believers will have you believe the EU is falling apart and never mention the British gov't is barely hanging on as the population realizes they made a Giant Brain Fart.
