2) Albertans as besieged underdog victims Having grown up in Alberta, I recall hearing no end of bitching about how Quebecers were a bunch of whiners. Now we’re stuck hearing Albertans talk about how they’ve been getting the short end of the stick all these years. Come again? For Christ’s sake, Alberta is rolling in money due to the skyrocketing price of oil, so much so that Ralph Klein recently sent a $400 cheque to every Albertan citizen (God forbid the money should have gone to hospitals, schools or affordable housing—Klein sensibly felt that an iPod or plasma TV fund for individual Albertans should take precedence). Given this astonishing economic growth, Albertans rate as the biggest whiners in the universe.
no argument there.
most of the whining is about things that happened over 30 yrs ago.

on the other hand, klein (IMO) did the right thing when he took over. spending was through the roof, and the boom we are having right now hadn't started yet.
he had to stop spending money we didn't have.
now that we do have that money coming in, i don't see any reason to complain about anything but high prices for gas and houses.
there is lots of money going to hospitals and schools, IN ADDITION to the $400 cheque. downside is that we are trying to play catch-up, which is very hard to do. at least the debt is paid off.....thank God.

When I lived in Utah, I used to drive stright through Idaho to the border to get REAL beer, so count one on the 'love' Alberta side....

3) People who vote Liberal in the East are sheep During the campaign, the CBC’s Mark Kelley captured one Albertan admonishing those in Ontario who consistently supported the Liberals, labelling these voters as “sheep.” This is rich, coming from Alberta, where Klein has reigned for years. These are hardly a politically sophisticated group of voters—a politician could stink to high heaven, but no matter, as long as they’re conservative.

LMAO I remember trying to order a beer in Provo. I asked the waiter what kind of beer they had. The nice clean cut boy informed me that they had ALL the beers. My first clue. I proceeded to order my fave microbrew of course (this was a few years ago...ok more than a decade), which brought the anticipated blank stare from the waiter. It turned out they had Bud, budlight, bud ice, miller, miller light....etc. you get the picture. I think I ended up with a Heineken.
