Ahhhhhh.....no wonder I don't know who he is. FOX is a network I rarely watch and what they pass off as "news" makes the old National Enquirer look like serious journalism.

The messengers are becoming more important than the message? How nice......

Careful. That kinda talk'll get you neg-repped. Come on, Bart, share it around, you big baby.

I don't get the Fox network and I know who Glenn Beck is. (He used to be on CNN). If you don't know who Glenn Beck is you're not really up on the US political scene in any way - he's part of the whole rightwing nutbar Teahadi phenomenon. You must be living in a bubble.

No, not a bubble, I just pay about as much attention to US politics and the "characters" involved as I do the Sri Lankan political scene. I don't really care what is going on or who is doing it to who south of the border.

Well I'm no political junkie, nor an expert on US politics. But how can you avoid them - they have such a big impact on Canada and our politics?

America as whole might have an impact on Canada and our politics, but Beck doesn't. He's just another nutbar.

Yet he is a nut bar that has major influence in politics. Look at the Tea Party! Its because of his help they are growing. Go too the Sean Hannity forums or any conservative forum. They believe anything that comes out of his mouth. He he says that George Washington was a communist. They will believe him!

You've got to be kidding. You think Glenn Beck has no effect on American politics?

Well for one, I refuse to watch the news from any US source. Gonzo journalism, such as what I saw in the videos about this Glenn Beck, will never grace my television screen. The only aspect of US politics that I pay any attention to are those issues that directly effect Canada: trade disputes, joint military missions, economic indicators for Canada. You see, I consider US journalism to be a lot of fluff. It's kind of like watching American Idol, lots of flash and hype designed to get ratings, but very little substance. And like I said, most of what goes on in the US is of no importance or of any interest to me.

I agree QBC. 'Merican news channels and the network 'news' coverage is really crappy. It always has been really.

The world news segments on US news shows is usually a couple of very brief clips before they move onto sports and the weather. “Iran nukes Israel and now for the heavy snow-fall warning in New England and what about those ‘Nicks?”

I like the Beeb for the world news. I also think CTV and CBC are not as good as they were. Too much opinion and not enough news. Every report is editorialised and has a certain bias. Just give us the bloody news.

I've never had Fox News, and now don't get CNN anymore either. I don't watch news on TV. I read Canadian newspapers, and they tell me plenty about Glenn Beck, as does this site actually - more than I care to know. Along with Sarah Palin and all the other nutjobs. You can't really get away from it. Lots of Canadian journalism deals with American politics, and I think it's good to have a sense, of what's going on down there. Glenn Beck played a role in the recent Republicon resurgence on congress, and that will certainly affect trade disputes, military missions and economic indicators.

Letting other people form your opinions for you is not a good idea.

Had you been watching Beck in this series he did on Soros you'd have found Beck repeatedly admonishing people NOT to believe him or take his word for it on Soros but to do their own research, read Soros' books and websites and etc., and then make up their own minds.

If people choose to dismiss Beck's opinions AFTER doing some perfunctory research then fine. But to do so just because someone else dismisses Beck as a kneejerk reaction is ignorant.

As I've noted on CKA a couple times, it amazes me how many people on this site who admit that they have never seen FOX News harbor a near-murderous hatred of the organization. Ironically, the same people who can't be bothered to do any reading to back up their hate of all things FOX are also the same people who can't be bothered to read the same Koran that they'll rush to the mattresses to defend on a constant basis.

Evil Evil, Jewish George Soros.

It's all the Jew's fault. It's always the Jews' fault.

I know for sure it was an evil Jew who cursed me with a receding hairline.

The_Doctor @ Mon Nov 15, 2010 10:23 am

You don't have to watch Fox News to tell it has a political slant too it. I used to watch Fox years ago. Almost EVERY show on fox is trying to promote the Republican Party with the exception of Alan Colmes, but he is not even liberal enough to counter Sean Hannity.
