The results showed that King Tut belonged to a genetic profile group, known as haplogroup R1b1a2, to which more than 50 percent of all men in Western Europe belong, indicating that they share a common ancestor.
Among modern-day Egyptians this haplogroup contingent is below 1 percent, according to iGENEA.
Old King Tut sure got around.
Migration is nothing new.
Sure. But I thought modern Europeans were descended from Indo Aryans (Hence Hitler's schtick). I didn't think they stopped off in Egypt first.
The Indo-European groups of Europe (the Centum groups plus Balto-Slavic and Albanian) are assumed to have developed in situ by admixture of early Indo-European groups arriving in Europe by the Bronze Age (Corded ware, Beaker people).
we're Indo Europeans...the eastern branch/subgroup(Iranians, afghanis and northern Indians) of our linguistic family are indo aryans.
I beg your pardon, King T. has MY DNA.
Well the article doesn't really say Europeans are descended from Tut or vice-versa. It says Tut and Europeans share a genetic marker that originated in the Caucasus (where the supposed "Aryans" came from). So Tut and whitey have a common ancestor somewhere in the Iran/Georgia area.
What's new is that it was generally thought that Aryans migrated through Europe and northern Eurasia only, and not back to Africa.
Egypt was invaded and briefly ruled by a people believed to be from that area known as the Hyksos; I suppose its possible that Tuts ancestors interbred with them.
All Europeans - including, of course, me - are direct descendants of Charlemagne, who was King of the Franks from 768 and Emperor of the Romans (Imperator Romanorum) from 800 to his death in 814.
In other words, Charlemagne is my great-great-great-great-great-great (and however many more greats) grandfather.
In fact, Europeans are direct descendants of EVERYBODY (everybody who had children) who lived at the same time as Charlemagne.
