HELP! European TV's in North America

I'm going to buying a nice big flat screen TV over here and I want to know what I need to do when I take it home with me next year. I am so stupid when it comes to this kinda stuff. I talking about the voltage difference, etc, etc.

Can anyone help me with this?

Get a Multi System TV! They can be used anywhere in the world.

If you can't find one then some appliances have a voltage converter that covers both European and North American currents, but if the TV you're planning on getting doesn't then there are separate power adapters for the voltage difference etc.. so that shouldn't be a problem as far as I know. Laptops and digital camera battery chargers don't usually need these..but I don't know about TV:s.

Fuggeddaboutit.

Once you overcome the differences in power, you'll have to overcome the fact that Euro TV transmissions use a different and incompatible format (PAL) from N.A. TV (NTSC) and can only be overcome using expensive hardware.

If you buy one BossDog, plan to sell it when you leave.

They have PAL and NTSC sets here.

Just make sure its compatible with our power levels (110W vs. 220 in Europe). And if you can get an NTSC, that would be a very good thing.

Well obviously if it's a 220V set, you can just cut one of the pins on the plug and you'd have 110V.

That's just basic math.

Not true, you have to split the wire in half. We just did it in my Electrical lab.

And yes, you can use batteries to recharge a dead battery. :D

So I'm looking for PAL and NTSC plus dual voltage. Got it. Thanks guys!
