Jim I would be very curious to find a CEO who would admit to being on our side, even if he was secretly, most large corporations have CEO's that toe the corporate line, which is whatever is good for the U.S. is good for them! I am not trying to be negative here, but I can't imagine how we could find such a person with enough positive influence to help us. Seems that any corp with influence on gov is using that influence to create business for themselves, not concerned with our soveriegnty. Sorry I guess I am being negative.
It was April 2003. I can't remember the site I was on but there was "A Diplomatic Memo" to Paul Cellucci from Silver Donald Cameron posted and Vive was connected to it somehow. After reading the unforgettable letter I was curious as to who or what "Vive le Canada" was about. I wonder if Donald Silver Cameron would be interested in submitting something of his once in a while to Vive? Should we ask him?
I don't think I've ever heard of Silver Donald Cameron, but we should ask DUNCAN Cameron to write for the site! or at least let us put up some of his existing stuff. He's a political economist at U of Ottawa & he edited some of my favourite free-trade books.
Jim I would be very curious to find a CEO who would admit to being on our side, even if he was secretly, most large corporations have CEO's that toe the corporate line, which is whatever is good for the U.S. is good for them!
Gord Nixon, CEO of the Royal Bank of Canada (NOT RBC) says that if there weren't foreign-ownership restrictions on banks, they'd all be gone. That's one CEO I can think of. I submitted a thing about them by Eric Reguly who wrote that Nixon is a closet "anti-free-trader".
I was reading Mel Hurtig's book, The Vanishing Country and found the website address at the end of the book. So glad I found his book and this website.
Im4canada,
Welcome To Vive!
What part of Canada are you from?
Kevin
N Say, I don't come to the forums that often so I didn't see this remark by you. Did you look up Silver Donald Cameron? Susan posted "A diplomatic memo to the US" way back in April 2003 that he wrote. It's just amazing. He writes for the Halifax Herald and his articles are wonderul. I'm a yahoo groupie of his since then as well. I did ask him if he would write for vive once in a while but he's too busy. He did say I could, with his permission post some of his articles.
I was reasearching tim hortons on google :S

I still think we should get Duncan Cameron to submit some stuff for the site also. I wonder if it would be ok to email him about it or if I should let stompson since it's her site...
Im4canada, Welcome To Vive! What part of Canada are you from? Kevin
Hi Kevin. I live in a small town about 45 minutes east of Toronto, Ontario.

N Say--I believe Duncan Cameron is aware of the site but I haven't approached him as yet to post or reprint anything. I'd prefer to do this myself as official "site editor" and it's worth a shot.
BUT it wouldn't hurt if you sent him an email and just let him know how much you respect his work, and that you hang around Vive le Canada.ca a lot and you'd love to see his stuff appear there, or see him around the forums etc.
I just prefer to do the actual official ASKING for posts myself.
Ditto goes for anyone else who could be on side with our mission.

I told him that since the books are out of print it would be awesome if he'd submit some stuff because they're some of my favourite free-trade books. I said I wasn't site admin, just that he's into Canada-US relations, free-trade, Canadian sovreignty, etc & it would be cool if he pitched in.
Maybe he's peeved, cause he's been at this for so long and we're just catching on now?
I think I was googling around looking for Canadian anti-war sites re the overthrow of democracy in Haiti, the lead article that day was the lockheed-martin census petition. It was only a couple of months ago but it seems like years already and I mean that in a "happy to have found you all" sense.
I found a link to it in site that I participate in re: WCB and all the crap (can I say that) that comes with being involved with them. Not my choice...I really didn't want to become injured and lose my job and then have to fight for my rights...(Just had to throw that in)
I think I'm going to love this site too!
After I finished reading one of Mel Hurtigs' books I punched his name into google. This site was one of the first hits, and I signed up almost immediately.
