I was just reading about that alert and saw that they were able to end that demand that everyone reduce their usage.

Amazing what happens when enough people do their part for the common good.
Weird eh? It's like what Ghandi said. "What you do may seem insignificant. but it is very important that you do it!"
Everyone not doing the wash and unplugging their block heaters is 200MW of power! Imagine what all those wall warts waste in power and heat!
Reducing your power consumption is something everyone should do anyway as often as reasonably possible. I mean, why have lights on in rooms not being used or when not necessary? You reduce your own bill, albeit by a small amount, but also contribute to overall power reduction. In my city they still have tons of trees on traffic boulevards covered with Christmas lights, which look pretty and are LED's, but FFS it's mid-January. Christmas is done man.
Iqaluit today, +3 with rain.
Snowmageddon arrives in the BC lower mainland tonight sometime and into tomorrow. They have been going on and on about on the news for days now (as if it has never freaking snowed EVER before) so it should not shock anyone when it hits, though I'm sure there will be those who whine and complain that "THEY should have told us!".
We did a few errands yesterday and after my dentist appt this morning made one more stop so we have no reason to drive anywhere for a few days anyway. It is supposed to snow like hell then piss rain like hell so avoiding driving in the possible slushy mucky mess is a good thing, especially given the intellect of most drivers.
Holy crap. I figured it would only snow a few inches maybe but there's lots more than that and it's still coming down...
At least they declared a snow day for schools so there are a lot less people that need to be out there driving in this shit. Fun day for the kids anyway. I do want to go for a walk later just to have that one good walk in it before it warms up and turns to rain, like it typically does.
Yeah. They were forecasting 15-25 cm here in the Fraser Valley and we def got 25 cm today. I felt like Sisyphus this morning shovelling snow it was coming down so fast.
+2. Everything is melting, the roads are pure 'oatmeal' and super slippery. Wheeee!
After a couple of mucky days the snow from last week is history. Lots of rain though but mild temps so it's all good here.
60 degree temp swings, Pink sunrises. Cool and normal...
On the plus side the cherry blossoms are out in force in Victoria.
+10 today. -17 and snow by Monday. Back to the single digit highs by next week.
Ready to ride the shoulder season rollercoaster!
Well, that was a dump of show. Knee deep drifts, still falling.
Still -20 and windy. I've been freezing so long I am legally a child in Alabama.
