on 2nd thought.. just close this thread..
im sorry to have hassled any of you

No no no, you're just fulfilling your patriotic duty. People like you are the only thing keeping the evil Americans from bringing their blitzkrieg north and turn every Tim Horton's into a Dunkin' Donuts.

No,
It is the Manifest Destiny of the United States to spread the institution of American Democratic Republican Civilization and justice to less enlightened shores (by bayonet if necessary), therefore Timmy Ho's would not become Dunkin Donuts but rather Starbucks.

If dealing with Americans irritates you so much, why bother?

Just thought I'd put my two cents (1.9 U.S.)in here. Over my +20 years military service, I have worked with a large number of americans both overseas and in the states. Aside from some friendly jabs passed equally back and forth (really no different then trading barbs with co workers, good friends, etc) I have always been treated with respect. I have never felt minimized or less equal. Some of my best memories have been created while working alongside americans. We are different to some extent and yet we are the same.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that Tim Hortons in Khandahar is the American soldiers most favourite coffee and donut shop (there are actually about 8 different coffee shops). I think they will invade Canada someday just for a timmies coffee.

Timmies is invading the US already

Why? Getting an extra large coffee and a muffin for $3 is very Canadian. We need to show you guys what you are missing!

Well, I dunno about the coffee, but Timmie's baked goods pale in comparison to Krispy Kreme. [drool]

When Krispy Kreme made their brief foray into Canada I tried the baked goods to see what the fuss was about. Like most people I know, I found them sickly sweet. One taste was enough to turn me off. As they are still prospering south of the border the taste must appeal to enough people to keep them in business. Just is not something I would enjoy.

All of the Krispy Kreme outlets in Sacramento (six of them) are now closed because people came to their senses and decided that overpriced sugar pucks did not compare to actual doughnuts.

I read this thread from beginning to end and if I understand correctly, like a bad neighbor, there is NO way to deal with an American. Only one thing to do then, build a higher fence. 8O

I recall Canadians got rather tweaked when Obama said that such a thing was needed on the Canadian border. But it's okay when it's your idea. Uh-huh.
