Hurricane Harvey is making landfall in Texas right now.

Here's the radar track:

https://radar.weather.gov/ridge/radar.p ... p&loop=yes

Governor Abbott is admonishing people to get the hell out of the way for this thing...

http://www.statesman.com/news/crime--la ... S63Eo4hTK/

And I am sure that it'll be a crazy night for the people who decided to remain in the places that are expected to see a three to five meter storm surge.

In typical fashion Samaritan's Purse is the first organization to roll relief supplies and crews to the area in advance of the storm. FEMA and the rest of the government will wait until after the storm leaves the area.

It also worth nothing, while the preemptive shitting on of FEMA begins, that Trump has yet to even nominate a director for FEMA or NOAA two of he main agencies that people will rely on in situations like this.

That said, hopefully people in the path of this stay safe and have battened down the hatches properly cause this hurricane looks like a doozy.

It looks like it's going to be a nasty situation. Hopefully those that did not evacuate can keep themselves safe through this one.

Say what you will but at least he's signed the disaster relief order so all the cities, towns, counties and states can get on with providing assistance knowing that they'll be reimbursed by the Federal Gov't.

The great part of this sad scenario is how CNN is handling the hurricane and the Arpaio pardon. Apparently it was that asshole Donald Trump who pardoned Arpaio but, it was some other guy known only as the "President" who preemptively signed the disaster relief order. ROTFL

If he's as much of a dipshit as the ones Donny Dumbfuck appointed to most of the other agencies are turning out to be then it would have been better off to leave the post empty.

He can't be any worse than Michael D. Brown was during Katrina.

We'll see. With anything Trump's had a hand in it's wise to expect the worst as being inevitable.

I can assure anyone here Texas is very prepared. San Antonio is already acting as the main Evac center, HEB (Food) and CPS (Electrical) have preposition all assets to respond. Joint Base San Antonio and Randolph AFB with 700+ NG Troops waiting for the Go Order. USCG and USN have ships ready to move in from behind the Storm. All of this before President Trump signed the Declaration. Gov. Abbott and local elected where on the Ball and ahead of it. That is very typical of Texas when compared to Louisiana. Even Road Crews, Equipment and Contractors are in Staging area's to move in, clear and repair damage. Greyhound and Amtrak are stopped at El Paso and Dallas till further notice, KSAT is closed. Lot of work was done by Texans and the Governor before the President Signed the order at the Req of Gov of TX. We have Two USCG C27J's and a C130J here in Green Bay waiting to go with 4 WI ANG C130's and 4 Flying Gas Cans loaded. So sometime Next week (Mon or Wed) I'll be down there with the Badger Relief Flight.

$1:
Harvey came ashore as the fiercest hurricane to hit the United States in 12 years and the strongest to strike Texas since 1961's Hurricane Carla, the most powerful Texas hurricane on record.

Based on the atmospheric pressure, Harvey ties for the 18th strongest hurricane on landfall in the U.S. since 1851 and ninth strongest in Texas.

The powerful storm exceeded forecasts that it would remain a Category 3 hurricane, as the National Weather Service Forecast sent out the amended category around 6pm local time.

Category 4 hurricanes have wind speeds that reach up to 156mph, enough strength to tear off roofs, destroy mobile homes, snap and uproot most large trees and can cause large power outages.

Those who didn't evacuate and remained in the storm's path, such as Corpus Christi, were told to write their names or social security numbers on their arms so that their bodies can be later identified.

Officials said they had no idea how many Corpus Christi residents heeded their urge to voluntary evacuate the city of 325,000 and nearby low-lying areas taking the brunt of the storm.

Nueces County spokesman Tyner Little said traffic inland 'was not hugely heavy as we've seen with other hurricanes.' He said the local sheriff said 90 percent of Port Aransas had left.

Nevertheless, Little said county officials were 'kind of freaked out' because the hurricane was tracking closer to Corpus Christi than officials had expected.
The National Weather Service Forecast told those who remained near the hurricane eye to take cover immediately around 6pm local time, and to brace as if a tornado was approaching, due to winds reaching 145mph.

Federal Emergency Management Agency officials issued an alert on Friday evening saying if a shelter in place order is issued, residents should immediately take action to do so.

The Left Will Blame Trump for Hurricane Harvey

By Daniel John Sobieksi

Before Hurricane Harvey even made landfall on the Texas coast, what Sean Hannity calls the “Destroy Trump Media” was already condemning President Trump’s handling of this natural disaster. No doubt Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accords will soon be blamed for this and every other natural disaster. As Salon shrieked:

Hurricane Harvey is predicted to be the first major storm in a decade -- and Trump just tweeted a useless promotional ad in preparation.

According to the White House, Trump was briefed on the government’s hurricane preparation efforts earlier this month, but his campaign-style commercial -- fitted with a dramatic soundtrack -- failed to convey any of that information to worried residents in the storm’s path. His tweet did not include basic information, like who is in danger, how to be prepared or what the government is doing to prepare.

Trump will undoubtedly be blamed for everything in Harvey’s aftermath and for ignoring climate change’s alleged causation of Hurricane Harvey. The media coverage and liberal commentary will no doubt parallel the media hysteria which blamed President George W. Bush for Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath, ignoring that a Democratic Louisiana governor and Democratic New Orleans mayor had both the responsibility and the blame for how the state and city responded. Investor’s Business Daily editorialized about a “Media Bias of Hurricane Proportions”:

(NBC News’ Chuck) Todd, like the media during their original Katrina Bush-bashing, ignore the fact that much of the Katrina snafus should have been laid at the feet of New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin, a Democrat, and the equally clueless Democratic governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Babineaux Blanco.

Fact is, President Bush declared the state of Louisiana a disaster area 48 hours before Katrina made landfall and asked Blanco to order a mandatory evacuation of New Orleans on Aug. 27, a full two days before the hurricane hit.

Neither Blanco nor Nagin ordered city buses to help evacuate those residents who couldn't leave on their own even though the city's own emergency plan mandated it and acknowledged there were at least 100,000 people who couldn't make it out without help….

After not evacuating the city, the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security blocked a convoy of Red Cross trucks filled with water, food, blankets and hygiene items from the New Orleans Superdome after Katrina struck. The rationale: It would have encouraged refugees to stay there.

No doubt Harvey will be painted by the media and the alt-left as Trump’s Katrina and blame Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accords for this disaster. The fact is that hurricanes and other weather events such as tornados are not increasing in intensity or frequency are not due to manmade influences but rather part of a natural cycle influenced by many things such as ocean currents...

More like, my information is out of date. There's so much insanity from this administration, it rarely makes news when Trump actually does something competent like fill a post that needs filling.

Either way, my bad and thank you for the correction.

Really good to hear. My aunt and crew made it through just heard a bit ago. Now i will just worry about flooding. From the third hand info I got doesn't sound like they evacuated.
