what weighs more? a pound of feathers or a pound of lint?

Tman1 @ Thu Jul 28, 2005 6:01 pm

Obviously a pound of feathers.

Blue_Nose @ Thu Jul 28, 2005 6:02 pm

depends on their specific gravities and moisture contents....

Im assuming normal circumstances. However feathers dipped in liquid or lint dipped in liquid is another story or the amount of feathers to lint.

It would depend on the size of the pound. I have seen some roomy dog pounds that would be miniscule in comparison to a cattle enclosure.

I'm sure :? your question is in gest, but if not I have to point out the obvious.

A pound is a pound is a pound. 8)

Really? I got this from some Medieval website. Why what does he have? I chose this because I like Medieval and Christian art.

Hmm well I don't think he would mind but if he does I would be more than willing to change it. Besides, this is only temporary.

If you compress the feathers and remove all the air voids, they would be heavier.

You wouldn't compress lint, because that's just stupid.

And compressing feathers isnt? HB hasen't revealed anything more to her question so in general terms a feather would more likely weigh more.

But, a pound is still just a pound so neither weighs more than the other. They weigh the same, that's the riddle.
