IPTV can we discuss
Teksavvy can't give me the speed I need.
Not available in my area, and also doen't change the lack of good shows on TV.

Usenet + plex media server + fibre internet.
Usenet costs me about 10 bucks a month. Fibre is about 100. Plex was a one time 60 dollar cost.
Ahhh, good old newsgroup encoded video files.

What's old is new again.
Wish I could get fiber though.

Fiber absolutely rocks! I actually have better connectivity at home for playing Battlefield and watching TV than my office has for 350 people to do their jobs.

The difference being, you subscribe to what you want. One of the things that soured me to cable was the channels I watched each ended up being in only one of the offered packages. So I had to get them all, because that's the way they planned it.

Rub it in man, rub it in.

I can't play most FPS anymore because I end up emptying a mag into someone, who was there a second ago but is now behind me introducing me to his K-bar.

Was your area not a beneficiary of Telus's fibre to home upgrades?

Hehe, no. Last BF I played was BF:BC2. COD:WWII was the last I played. You know, the WWII where it was just the Germans vs the USA?

No, I live in a rural paradise. Telus has stated they will never, ever run fibre anywhere near me. All I can get is heavily over provisioned cable internet. The phone substations are even too old for crappy DSL.
There is a wireless provider, but for gaming I think that would be even worse. I would use my phone as a hotspot, but I can't even get LTE out here.

Have you tried Bell or Northern? I thought Bell is now in charge of rural Alberta?
Still find it gross how hard it is for rural Albertan's to get hooked on to fibre, when all Albertan's shelled out for it.

Bell and Telus are basically the same. They share the same infrastructure, where appropriate. Neither will splice me in to those fibre trunks only tens of kms from me.

Preaching to the choir here. I deal with Supernet every day, but I can't have them in my home.
