I've always been quite interested in popular science articles, any science, and over the years I've closely watched the progress of of people like the Leaky family and Tim White as they found various hominids. Recently I ran across a website The Journey of Mankind by the Bradshaw Foundation with Stephen Oppenheimer. It is the science-based story of how and when our ancestors left Africa and spread throughout the world. In my opinion, it is a far more beautiful and satisfying explanation of our past than the religious versions.
The site tour takes about an hour if you read all the pop-ups on climate changes and catastrophic natural events that affected immigrations and populations. It makes me proud of my ancestors; they were survivors because they were tough and resouceful!
