Well peoples,
What is everyone going to be doing for the last month of summer? What has everyone done already since summer started? What's next?
My summer went pretty fast. I did a little work, prepared for some arts and craft shows (by the way, my fiance and myself are home business owners of a native arts and crafts business), we were selling our crafts just outside of the Glenbow Museum in Calgary with a good friend of ours during the Stampede, my fiance was here in Edmonton doing another show, Edmonton's Heritage Festival, and now, we are preparing ourselves for working at Edmonton's International Fringe Festival.
We have our friend over from Calgary, he's a Blood Native Artist. He paints modern style Plains Native original paintings. He's been staying with us for at least three weeks now to attend these shows with us.
I am building his web site as well as adding more to our own so my household has been very busy lately doing all of this stuff. We were supposed to head down to Kamloops again to sell our crafts at the pow wow there again but we were too busy to put aside money to go, and we had ourselves booked for that weekend anyway.
I am thinking about going to school and try my hand at a Business Management course. Compusmart isn't exactly the greatest place to work, since they have knocked my hours down to at least one day a week..how the heck am I supposed to live on that? Oh well. It leaves me more time to post more messages and do other things for a change.
At the end of this month me and my fiance would be together for two years now. It's really amazing how fast time goes.
Well, I finally get to go on a little mini vacation with the hubby. We are going to go to Waterton National Park, Southern Alberta. I can hardly wait to go on long hikes and sleep in a tent on the cold hard ground. I really love the outdoors and have no problem getting a little grimey and cooking over an open flame. Hopefully there won't be any rain. We will be gone for a week. I am bringing the digital camera to leave with some mountain memoirs.
Well ...
I hang my head in shame because I really didn't get to do too much of anything this summer. I was just way too busy trying to deal with this yucky horrible separation issue of mine. And then of course me moving to Iroquois Falls. But on a brighter note: I am now officially a home-owner (outright home-owner - no mortgage or rent).
As far as what to do the remaining period of summer? I just don't know! LOL! Other than work my tail off and then start getting school clothes for the kids.
DAMN REALITY! IT SUCKS! lol! Hopefully next summer will be so much better.
My summer sucked...no tomatoes, no peas, the Saskatoons never grew. I'm gonna have to buy taters to make perogies with and there will be no cabbage rolls.
The rest of summer will be spent drinking beer and wasting time. We're going canoeing tomorrow if the weather holds and the canoe owner doesn't jam out though. I've got the Nikons packed and the beer cooling and just Transferred Woody Guthrie to tape so we can play it in the truck. Wish this was more than a day trip.
Well the wife and I spent the last few weeks finding a new place to live cause we have to move from where we are now.. well we found a place and today I spent painting the whole unit,,,Now im sooo sore I can barely move..So now the next week will be spent moving stuff over a pick up truck load at the time until Sept 4th when we'll complete the move hopefully with the help of family and friends..(it will just be the big stuff by then) as for the rest of the time,, ill spend it as usual trying to sell my car parts on line to eak out a meager living here ion the cold north LOL
I have just moved to Victoria so I spent most of it getting settled. Friends visited so we went to pacific rim national park and we went kayaking on the Gorge. Some tennis ,some biking.
Summer in Victoria begins sooner and ends later then the rest of Canada. So there is lots of time to do a few more things I want to do, whale watching, more biking, more kayaking, more tennis.
The weather didn't hold last week, but today it's sunny and bright here. Going out to paddle a canoe today. Got the Nikons packed and the beer and sandwiches in the cooler. I'm not sure where we're going, but we are going.
Now if Mrs. Rev would just hurry the heck up...
This summer sucked for the last month, the crappy cold weather...i got a feeling it's going to snow here in Edmonton by or on Halloween. i don't like the winters here. They suck big time. This winter is going to be bloody cold
I've been spending most of the last month of free time, between fishing trips that is, working on my Jeep and getting it ready for hunting season. I'm hoping between this and next weekend it's all done.
We went out to a place called Lone Island Lake in the Whiteshell. Very nice, not too many people. My shoulder is bitched today, which should make going up on the roof an interesting experience, but it was worth it. We don't do a lot of overnight camping because we have four dogs...not exactly conducive to being good neighbours in a campsite or paddling a canoe.
What kinda dogs you got over there Rev? I myself have 2 Great Danes and a German Shepherd. I know how hard it is to camp. In spring and fall we can only bring the German Shepherd because the Great Danes can't hadle the cooler weather as well.
Kari, a fifteen year old lab/shepherd cross; Zeke, nine year old whose mother was a rottie/shepherd and whose father was something large and white; Emma, nine or ten, a huskie cross with serious abuse issues; Max, a two(?) year old shepherd cross I stole from a junkie who quit feeding him.
Emma is especially bad in public because she likes to bark (which gets the other dogs going) and she likes to run away. She also nips at anybody she doesn't trust who pats her behind the shoulders. She's much better now...she comes back when she runs away and only nips...she used to bite outright.
Zeke is diabetic, so we have to be able to keep her insulin cold too.
Usually any overnight camping is down on friend's land or at a relative's place because of the dogs though. .
Hmmmm..lotsa puppy people here. I've got three, an Akita called Peewee, a Boarder Collie called Tia and a Heinz 57 named Roo. The more dogs the better I say.....
That's what I say too...except for when I'm cleaning the backyard, of course.
