Nothing is too good for little Saffron Drewitt-Barlow, who has had 150 pairs of shoes, 50 handbags and £40,000-worth of designer clothes lavished on her by her gay fathers

Saffron shows off some of her fathers' designer gifts

At five years old she has a remarkably grown-up wardrobe.

So grown-up that the Chloe, Versace and Gucci outfits she has collected are worth at least £40,000.

Not to mention the £10,000 worth of designer handbags she has to parade on her arm.

But then nothing is too good for Saffron Drewitt-Barlow.

Or her twin brother Aspen who, although 'not interested in fashion' favours Armani, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger.

Their multi-millionaire gay parents, Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow, say children are there to be spoilt.

"Saffron has 150 pairs of shoes, 50 handbags and Versace, Chloe and Gucci outfits hanging in her wardrobe," a proud Barrie told the magazine Closer.

"She also owns a couple of diamond necklaces - one cost £6,000 - and a pink diamond from Burma.

"Any time she wants a Louis Vuitton handbag, I buy it for her."

The couple plan to 'marry' in a civil partnership ceremony at Chelmsford Register Office in Essex on December 22.

"Saffron will be a bridesmaid and has already picked out a pink Christian Dior off-theshoulder piece," Barrie said.

"Aspen is a page boy and is wearing a Tommy Hilfiger blazer and trousers."

Barrie, 36, and Tony, 40, who also have a two-year-old son called Orlando, are not simply interested in their children's appearance. Education is also important.

When the twins were bullied at school they simply bought a new one.

The couple made their fortune when they sold their clinical research company in 1998.

Soon after they started their family using an American egg donor and two surrogates.

Originally based in Cheshire, they moved to Spain in 2003 after facing hostility about their unconventional lifestyle.

Home became a luxurious six-bedroom hacienda in Elche, Alicante, with indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, manicured gardens and two chefs.

But their hopes of enjoying Spain's liberal attitude to homosexual couples were short-lived.

First, parents at Saffron and Aspen's school tried to have the children expelled. Tony and Barrie's response was to buy an international school, The Lady of Elche, in April 2004.

After investing hundreds of thousands, pupil numbers swelled to 110 and included the children of Spanish footballers, ambassadors and a princess.

But in February the local education authority refused to issue a permit to teach children over six and they were forced to return to England.

"I think that decision was targeted at us. Some people had a problem with two gay men owning a school," said Barrie. The couple are buying a £1million house in Chelmsford.

There is also talk of adding to their family. They shrugged off warnings from psychologists that so many possessions could make the children too materialistic.

"We do spoil the children but so what?" said Barrie. "We have the money. Why shouldn't we spend it?"

Pity they don't splash out a little more on the child's bed linens. Can you say 'tacky'?

Why the heck does she need all that stuff? It's ridiculous! And buying a school because you're children don't fit in? OMFG!!!

There's an example of the 0.001 %(No clue what the actual percentage is) of the population of the world that gets anything they want, while there's like 30% starving to death, hahaha makes me want to laugh. Well what can you do thats how life is shaped.

I think the proper term is over indulged rather than spoiled. It's possible that the kid may grow up developing the spoiled attitude you associate with Paris "I've got money so you can't call me a whore" Hilton. She may also grow up and become a philanthropist.

Looks like another Belinda Stronach in the making. She will not be able to stand on her own two feet when shit hits the fan because she will be used to getting everything she wants and getting her way all the time. She will not be able to make compromises or be able to improvise in a tight situation. When the going gets tough, the tough get moving, but she will break in no time. She was brought up into a culture of entitlement just like the average Liberal Politician in Ottawa.

If you're one of the 30% or on the borderline, you learn to steal from the 0.001% and make it so you can get buy.

lily lily:
Why? Because she's growing up in a wealthy family?

Growing up in a rich family doesn't necessarily shape your personality in any manner, some parents are very good at making sure that their kids don't get spoiled. But... Everyone I know who has an interesting charachter faces adversity and hardship at somepoint in your life. And if you face none in your early years then you tend to lack charachter and ability.
