Did a lovely dinner for 4 others with no family in town.
except for discovering all 4 were rabid anti-vaxxers....

I came across this last week and found it hilarious. Though I can't directly relate to this person's experiences but I loved their way of expressing themselves. I could actually see these types of things happening to me.
No. More. Turkey. I’ve had it with cooking the big bird
Damn straight. Even if they are stupid.

One person brought half a turkey for our Christmas dinner (as my duaghter sez: It ain't Xmas unless you gag down dry turkey and a couple brussel sprouts).
Made her leave just enough to make a sandwich and take the rest home. The one that took home the ham came back with some home made pea soup today. Yum!
Had a hate on for turkey. Xmas eve had an Italian meatless feast at Gramma's. Xmas day everyone over for turkey dinner (Mom's was the worst). Boxing Day gramma'd do another turkey... and spaghetti. New years at my Aunt's yet another turkey. Turkey leftovers, turkey sandwiches, turkey a la king. then Mom wold make soup... gross shit with lumps of fat floating in it. Batted me in the head cuz I made a gagging noise looking at it... and I really was sick with flu until back to school.
And I tossed the f*cking turkey sandwiches in the alley on the way and hit the corner store for Twinkies and chips... anything but f^cking turkey,

BTW I trimmed & cut the brussel sprouts in the air fryer, w glaze and bacon bits. Everyone liked them... ate the ALL not a one left!
Commercially raised Turkey has no taste, and I'm tired of pretending otherwise.

Bacon makes anything better.

I used to hate turkey growing up, because it was dry. Once I learned how to make it properly, it was always flavourful and juicy. In the past decade, I've never had a bad turkey using these two tricks: make a flavoured butter and stuff it under the skin and to let the bird rest under foil for at least an hour or two (the loner the better) - if you do that, your turkey should be fantastic.
Gordon Ramsay has a great recipe that is very similar to what I use (I use a covered roasting pan and don't use bacon):
