Five Canadian soldiers have been killed in light armored vehicle rollovers. Should the vehicle be banned from combat zones?
That is just so mind numbingly stupid a question as to be beyond belief.....

I saw that.
The better question is: Do you think the driver of the LAV will be off of KP anytime in the next century?

I haven't seen the poll asking if IEDs should be banned as well. I think they've killed more soldiers.
While they're at it, how about banning storms at sea for us sailors, they're tough on the ships and crew and can cause accidents.
Don't ban it, simple.
Everyone that I've ever talked to who is part of the Canadian Forces has only said good things about the LAV III. Yes, rollovers can be a problem, but it seems to me that many soldiers consider that less of a risk then a rocket attack or an IED which, thank God, don't utterly destroy the vehicle(remember the Iltis?).
So is this problem with the lav itself, or user error? We had some guy roll an uparmor hmmwv awhile back. He claimed he was going 45, but c'mon, you have to REALLY try going at that speed. Pretty sure he did some brig time.
The hmmwv look surprisingly good for getting rolled.
more often than not, it's the LAV itself. They have a very high centre of gravity and as such cannot exceed a certain angle.
Ah.
learn something new everyday.
All all know is the only thing I hate more then LAVs are LCUs.
