Here's my conspiracy theory: these ridiculous accusations are part of an organized campaign to destroy public opinion of science.

   

Just got off the phone with my brother in law who lives in Houston. Looks like Rita isn't living up to it's billing where he is. Although their local news casts are giving warnings, he hasn't seen anything yet that's too bad. Him and a few of his neighbors having been sitting outside on the patio for the evening and other than a drizzling rain, that's been it. When I talked with him he was still outside and you couldn't even hear the wind blowing through the phone.

   

I guess it's moved more east of Houston. Looks pretty bad on CNN in some spots.
