That was pretty neat. Although, how does he keep a straight face without laughing.

I really don't understand why people have to lose it like that, jsut tell them you want to be on their do not call list and that is all. People seem to forget that these are people too and they are just doing their job. they do not get to choose who they call or when.

I like the fact that they have those automatic dialers that take a second to transfer - I just hang up as soon as I realize it's one.

When I used to answer them they'd have this whole bullshit routine of asking me for a bazillion dollars, and when I would say, "No, I don't donate money over the phone," and they go on another little rant about how they understand how a bazillion dollars might be too much to ask ("Shucks, I know I couldn't afford to give that much," they say), and lower their bid to something reasonable, like $20.

I'm pissed by now, and say again, "No, I said I don't donate money over the phone", and they start all over again with their sob stories, asking finally for any donation that I'd be willing to make (as if I wasn't going to donate what I wanted in the first place). Usually after this final bid, they finally give up.

Can only agree with Zoraja here. Telemarketer sure must be a discouraging job at times... being treated like you're just some kind of "factor of annoyment" and not a human being must be pretty damn frustrating.

Fortunately it surely doesn't happen all too often. And eh, some telemarketers maybe just find it funny. I know I'd personally laugh! Unless it happened on a daily basis or something.

Zoraja @ Wed Dec 13, 2006 10:02 pm

I didn't do telemarketing I did phone surveys, and for the msot part you can laugh it off but it is prety depressing after a while, I could only do it for a few months before I just couldn't take it anymore. People say some really cruel things and when you are doing it 8 hours a day every day, it gets to you.

Crabbypants @ Wed Dec 13, 2006 10:21 pm

My kid does phone surveys after school. He says it's fine, doesn't
get to him.

But I don't know. Today I found him crying 'cause the rabbit
chewed through his PS2 cables!

Don't tell me that's not work related.

You assholes lay off my boy!

Not sure how true this is BN but i've been told that if you don't wait and talk to them, you then go back into the rotation as an unanswered call. I wait until they say hello and just say i don't need any and hang up. One of these days it could be a lawyer trying to give me a long lost relative's estate and i'm going to say " i don't need any "
