Today I saw my first fully veiled Muslim women in public with her husband and child in Gatineau, 5 minutes away from Ottawa and it disgusted me to see it.

It reminded me of what I do to meat before I put it in the fridge, cover it up first.

Where's the Status of Women bureaucrats when you need them ?

That's the first time you've seen one? Really?

Not many Muslims in Ottawa or what?

Streaker @ Wed Sep 05, 2007 6:26 pm

lol Pretty funny considering the number of Muslims in the NCR.

westmanguy @ Wed Sep 05, 2007 6:26 pm

I saw my first in Vancouver.

It sickened me too.

its like the husband is putting control over his wife.

Good question though - where are the feminists when it comes to Muslims and Iraqi & Afghan. woman.

I don't like them either, Bodah, but she has every right to wear it.

Of course she has a right to wear it, in our country we don't tell people what they have to wear, but you know as well as I do what a full veil means as far as 13th century foreign religons goes.

Zipperfish @ Wed Sep 05, 2007 6:44 pm

It's odd that it's the left that stands up for the rights of the burqa-clad Muslim women (who are actually conservatives in their culture) and the right that all of a sudden wants the "Status of Women bureaucrats" to stand up. I get a kick out of that. You'd think it would be the left that would be outraged adn teh right that would be standing up for their religion brethren.

Zipperfish, good post.

Very odd and ironic.

novachick @ Wed Sep 05, 2007 6:51 pm

I totally agree with you Bodah ( no i'm not starting an anti-muslim rant tonight back off peeps) it is extremely sickening to see.

ShepherdsDog @ Wed Sep 05, 2007 7:01 pm

just make sure you don't make a spade comment, or you know who will tell you what you really meant.

westmanguy @ Wed Sep 05, 2007 7:04 pm

ROTFL Yeah but I'm about to be a racist and not a realist in another thread so it's all good :P

i'm just wondering, what would happen if a man led a woman around in a collar and leash in public, even if she said she enjoyed it and desired it?
