On the days leading up to Nov 11th, remember Canada's fallen hero's, by wearing a poppy!

It's not just for Canada's fallen heroes, it's for all who have died for their country. I know Canada, England, Australia, NZ have poppies. The US doesn't? PM me your address CanadianHeat, I'll send you a few. Or you can make your own out of felt, construction paper, or whatever. The centre is black.
I'd be happy to send you some. Our legion, vets, fallen comrades would be proud to see you wear it where ever you are.

I'd like to get a 'nice' one... made of cloth or something, with a better clip... I don't know how many times I've stabbed my neck putting on my coat ever since I was a little kid.

I don't use the pin that comes with the poppy, I use the clip on poppy pin to hold the poppy on my lapel, no worries of it ever falling off. You can purchase these from most Canadian Legions.

I started wearing one for the week leading up to remembrance day several years ago. I intend to continue to do so.

Those of us in the CF are permitted to wear a poppy for the two weeks leading up to Remembrance Day - so from Oct 28 to Nov 11.

Growing up I really didnt understand it. To me it was just the school trying to get my change for a stupid little flower. But when you learn the history behind the poem of Flanders Fields and what the veterans have provided us, my views have changed on poppies full circle. I sell them now through cadets and wear one not only on my uniform but also on my coat.

During my service days, we wore the poppy on the left side of the head dress.

Hester @ Sun Oct 30, 2005 5:43 pm

It might have come across as such, but I didn't mean it to sound like ONLY those in the CF can wear them during these dates.
Those of you not in the military are permitted to wear the poppy 365 days of the year, whenever and where ever you want.

We have direction on where and when to wear it. Centered on left pocket flap, or lower left lapel; Oct 28 to Nov 11th.

Poppies become 'available' on the last Friday of October each year, and that's when Goverment and military start wearing them.

I finally found a Poppy. I usually pin a Canadian Flag in the middle to make sure the poppy doesn't fall off. Which is always seems to do.

I picked up a poppy when I was home on vacation. CanadianHeat was right, they don't know what it is down here even though their Veterans Day is the same as our Rememberance Day.

CanadianHeat: Iwould send you one but I only have the one. Tell me the state you live in and I'll see if there is a Canadian Legion near by. The closest Legion to my area is 2 hours away.

Are you serious? Do they do anything to commemorate the veterans at all?

In the cities where people recognize the sacrifices of the vets there will be remembrances, in cities like San Francesspool there will be a lot of activism by the perverts who bemoan the fact that the military still frowns on buggery and bestiality and they'll wrap themselves in the flag and pose as patriots all while pushing their sickening agendas.

Look at the site carefully and you'll see what I mean.

Canada tends to be more somber and tasteful, overall, that the USA in this regard.
