Hi all- I am from the United States (obviously) and was just curious what it is like to have the U.S. to your south. Now, please give honest opinions, but don't be mean about it- unless you absolutely have to in order to give your true opinion. :)

Discuss. (Also, anyone from the U.S. can state what it is like to have Canada to the north.)

I will start that off: I like having Canada to the north- they're very peaceful, have a vast, beautiful country, and I like their coins. Growing up, I never thought bad of Canada- and still don't. They are our good neighbors to the north and I don't think one could ask for a better country on one's border.

Wow, you sure type well for a 93 year old American lost or located in Constantinople. I think it's positively wonderful having the United States of America as our shouthern neighbours. In fact I envy those who live there their ability to travel to various climes and locales unencumbered. What would the alternatives be if it wasn't you good folk living there. Rather scary I suggest.

I just vented on the separatists on another thread mostly because I feel they take the rest of Canada for granted. I think Canada is probably the best country on earth (once you get past the leftists) and I love having Canada for a neighbor. [flag]

I'll qoute those famous words... Like sleeping next to an elephant.

Besides that, I have no real problem with 75% of your country, it's just the Politicians (Most of them, anyway) and the blindly patriotic people (Not that patriotisim is bad or anything) I mean the people who have the argument "America is better because we're better."

The only real problem I have with living next to the US is we get pretty much ignored by alot of the world. Living in the shadow, basically, is somthing I'd like to change.

We could have worse neighbours... and I think it's better to have just one than several (I learned that playing Risk)

Lol, yes. Have you ever noticed that the best continent to have is North America? (easiest to defend for the amount of points)

Straight up! In Risk Australia is the first and easiest continent to conquer and keep and the two extra troops each turn can make the difference in winning or losing.

By the way, we pretty much think the same general stuff about our politicians even when we support them.

Overall, I think it quite good that the US is to the south. Most Americans are decent, hard-working people like us who just live in a different country.

Just fine, though you should move Boston closer to the border so I could make more Bruins games! [hockey]

That was my strategy too. Unfortunately it took me years to learn that yellow wasn't the best colour to choose - plenty of more subtle colours in the box. ;)

Only one thing I learned about playing Risk in Australia... Australians CANT FIGHT! lol, serously. I had a 10-strong army and was moving in to Asia againts a 3-strong army, and I got my ass handed to me. Damn!!!!

I love it, i usually only find a few problems with it... I mean I can't stand the 5% of Americans who are out to bash Canada, psot dumb things like " lets tkae over Canada" and "Canada is America's ass" but other then those 5% I love america, i think overall, bsides a few imperfection they are the best neighbours we could get, but hey everyone has imperfections.

Funny. My very best victory was against four other guys. They ganged up on me and had me down to three troops on Congo and I came back to win.

And you're right, it is my very favourite game! R=UP
