I know "technically" this is for American accents but lets see what you guys get.

I scored "north central".

I'll go with Mancunian with a hint of South Lancashire. It's been around since the Romans invaded.

Western

Western is kind of neutral, but not quite since it`s still possible to tell where you`re from. So you might not actually be from the West (but you probably are). If you really want to sound "neutral," learn how to say "stock" and "stalk" differently.

Which American accent do you have?

My Results:

Neutral You`re not Northern, Southern, or Western, you`re just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don`t really have a local identity. You might be from the region in that map, which is defined by this kind of accent, but you could easily not be. Or maybe you just moved around a lot growing up.

Interesting results though I would dispute them. Using the quiz as guide, I wuold think mine is more a Pacific Northwest accent with the odd glitch. If you would ever meet me in real life, if you listen carefully, I'll pronounce my 'V's with an 'F' like Germans do.

People always say I sound like I'm from Minnesota because I saw "about" differently.

Which American accent do you have?

Before the test, I would have said that I didn't have an accent.

One thing is true, I moved around a lot.

Yeah that's also a giveaway of a "Wisconsin accent"

Also the "doncha-know" and "oh-ya" with "eh der"

Yea, the difference in looking at this from a Brit-Canadian (no I won't invade a highway, God bless you Tamils) perspective is that in the UK and Eire accents are vastly different within 2 or 3 miles. In NA they change little.

People from outside North America probably think you`re from the States, but over here we wouldn't make such a mistake.

Except I don't do that. (thank God) If I talked like that I'd have to punch myself daily. 8)

Curious, what exactly is the "Canadian" accent? I really can never tell.

Only old people do that around here

I rarely catch my self doing the "doncha-know"

I dont know...I dont think I have an accent, its the rest of the world that sounds funny

EyeBrock @ Wed May 20, 2009 4:09 pm

Yea but I can tell within 2 or 3 miles in Manchester ( a city of 5 million people) where they are from. The same is not true in NA.

TattoodGirl @ Wed May 20, 2009 4:10 pm

Except for Newfies...we all know where they are from
