(BANG) - Paris Hilton reportedly lost $3.5million worth of pink diamonds at a party in Ibiza.

The 24-year-old hotel heiress was dancing with friends in a villa near the resort of San Antonio when she lost the expensive jewellery.

Paris had been dressed in her usual glamorous attire and had borrowed a pair of diamond-encrusted drop earrings from a family friend to complete the outfit.

But halfway through the night, the beautiful socialite realised the earrings were missing and caused chaos trying to find them.

One partygoer is quoted by Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying: "Paris looked as glamorous as ever wearing a pair of gorgeous pink diamond earrings.

"But when she went to the bathroom she saw they had disappeared and must have fallen off when she was dancing. All of a sudden there were shrieks. Paris was inconsolable."

Armed guards stepped in to help distraught Paris and the party was cleared.

Guests had to wait on a balcony outside while the guards searched the villa.

The gems were eventually found underneath the stand of a giant ice sculpture.
