i have a few nicknames throughout my life.

as i've said previously, i was an army cadet so i earned a few nicknames there....when army cadets go to camp in vernon, BC, the cadets usually do not wear their regimental cap badges. my cadet corps is artillery regiment. anyway, one time we were dressed in our dress uniforms for some ceremony or something but we had to wear the old green VACC ball caps which look terrible with the dress uniform. so i said to my friend next to me when we were formed up "i wish i could wear my arty brass" so i got the nickname arty. the next summer at vernon i earned another nickname from those stupid ugly green hats. we were formed up outside the barracks and i had my had on high on top of my head and the platoon WO camy by and told me to put my hat all the way on because i looked like elmer fudd, so i got the nickname "Fudd", i even have nametags made wit those names on them. the next summer after that i did staff at vernon and one of my cadets in my section was being RTU'd cuz he broke his arm so the night before he was to be RTU'd he went AWOL and MPs came to my barracks and woke me up 3 times in the middle of the night so the next morning during PT i was really pissed off so i yelled at my platoon so i got a couple of nicknames from that but the one i remember was "springer" because i was like a coiled spring ready to snap. the same summer our reg force sgt who was attached to our Coy named me "gunney" after the american rank of Gunnery Sgt, probly because my rank at camp that summer was Sgt and i was from the artillery regiment. anyway, also one time my cadet corps was on an FTX and one of the officers named me "dirk the mountain man" for reasons unbeknownst to me. i still use that one from time to time....

the name i have now, i have because i needed a new name for msn messenger, so i started looking through the dictionary for adjectives that are suiting for my personality, so i chose "indelible" which means "cannot be effaced, blotted out od forgotten, or something that makes indelible marks." it comes from the latin word indelibilis which means indestructible. i also DJ just for fun from time to time so i use that name as my DJ name as well. DJ Indelible

Indelible (I'm gonna call you "Del", if thats okay - the full name is too much typing) - when were you in Vernon?

I lived there from 72-80, and 81-87. (Hence MY nick - read it backwards. :wink:) Probably before your time though, eh?
There was a time I used to have the Camp as one of my Coca-Cola accounts. MAN - did I wish I had a few more like it - an 8-bay truckload at a time... in-and-out in a half an hour, with help from the Cadets! Slam-bam-thankyou maam! Back to the plant, reload and hit the road - it was commission in those days! $$$!

One of my sons also went there one summer (Air Cadets), probably about 89 or 90....

We could exchange a few impressions of Vernon, anyway.

nonrev,

i was there only during the summer of '98, '99, 2000 and 2001.
a lot of things have changed since your time, hell a lot has changed since i was there! there were never air cadets there on course while i was there but there were some air officers there.

i could exchange some memories! i still remember the old "stigma" about polson park and stuff like that....something about a murder that happened there a long time ago. i've only been in polson park once or twice...it's actually a nice park.
most of my memory is of the base tho cuz i didn't go into the city too much.

First herd mine in a book I was reading, Ender's Game. Thought it sounded cool so I snagged it for myself. Latter I learned it was what the Greeks called their military leaders.

At school or work I go by Jim, Jimbo, JimJim, JimmyJames, or Chicken Butt.

Dont know anything about a murder, but a friend in HighSchool, that lived in Jericoh, and was in Cadets on the 60s', talked about a big gang-fight between a bunch of Cadets and a bunch of Vernon kids.... maybe the legend has grown over the years.

CLEAR! *ZAAAAAAP*. Oh don't mind me, just trying to revive this old forum topic, this baby hasn't shown life for about 6 months. CLEAR! *ZAAAAAAP*. There. I love the reward of bringing a forum topic back from the dead.

I figured, its been a while, new members have joined, why not rather than starting a new forum topic with the exact same subject, just continue off this one.

Okay, so my name is actually QUITE simple. No real story behind it.

D=First Name
M=Middle Name
P=Last Name
08=Favourite number

So all it is is my initials followed by my favourite number. Not real fancy, but it works.

Narissa would have been the name given to my daughter - had I had one.

I hope mine is self-explanatory.. I joined another forum at a time when there was a lot of fighting going on, and I wanted to bring a few laughs to it.. As it turns out, it seems there is a lot of fighting going on on just about any and every forum I have visited.

Oh well... we can only do our best to be something close to human, and try to have a little sense of humour in the process...

And remember...
