Great retort, he took the high road and used facts instead of an ad hominem attack, thats part of what makes him a better leader.

The next election will be very interesting..

A good response, but he'll have to keep at it to drive the point home.

I agree, Streaker. I hope they can find a couple bucks to spend on some TV spots of their own.

But it doesn't hurt that the media have picked up on it.

CTV, Toronto Star.

Actually, I posted it here more than five hours before it was posted the other thread, "Wally."

The thing I don't get.....it's not election time, no date has been called, the government hasn't been defeated in a non-confidence vote, what's with the election style slag add when an election is no where in sight?

I don't care what party did this....It's simply bullshit. I don't want to have to put up with stupid and ignorant election adds between elections too. I hope the Libs ignore this BS for the most parts and leave it die the death it deserves.

Because during an election, there's a limit to how much the parties can spend on advertising. The Conservatives have more than this available, so they spend it outside the election period.

I would say that should the Liberals win the next election, they should make a law restricting the spending between election periods, too - say one sixteenth (elections are theoretically every four years, so divide the limit by four, and divide it again by four because there's really no good reason to run ads between elections) of the election spending limit per year. Comes out to just over $1 million per year, currently.

Unfortunately, if these ads plant even the smallest seeds of doubt, they absolutely must be countered in some way, or the Liberals will only be hurt. This is a great way to start. I hope the Liberals go further.
