Sorry Kenmore, frogs legs is French diet. I visited France once (enough).

I asked sheepdog where he thought the term came from (frog in reference to Quebecers) and he assumed it was from the french cuisine.. some will tell you.. mon grand pere for example that in Quebec when the catholic church controlled the people they would tell them who to vote for etc.. some times le bleu and sometimes la rouge.. so they jumped back and forth depending on what the Bishop of Quebec dictated..the english said they were like frog jumping from one pad to the other.. ie one party to the other.. My parents and grand parents thought this to be racist.. as do I.

Yep that was my understanding of it as well. Although I didn't always hear it in reference to Quebecers, it was said to me in reference to my mom and myself as her daughter. It has always been a Canadian derogatory name to me nothing to do with cuisine. Well ceptin when it's a particularly nice frog leg I wanna lick
