Why is it when someone is nominated for a medal all it takes is a nomination and three

yes votes for it to be awarded,and all negative opinions are ignored.

While the present criteria is fine for some medals eg; spleler,cadet,soldier etc

I think some of the more "valued" medals should be awarded by popular concensus.

In my opinion, when a nomination is put forward a new window should be opened

and a vote taken, the medal then awarded or denied by majority rule.

I believe this can be taken as a general point. AND HERE HERE! I fully agree.

   

Why take the medals system so seriously? The equivalent of it would be like getting a gold star in kindergarten.

On that note did you see all my new medals? Oh yes I'm living the high life now and have even more rectangular pictures than you. Try not to be too envious of me.

If that were the case that a consensus was needed to issue a medal, Hyack, I doubt any medals would be awarded period. How long would the voting last? Is it simply a vote or is the reason behind the vote counted too? I would think somebody voting "Yes, because on this thread he... and on this thread he...." versus a simple "No" should count for something in your system.

The bottom line is that this is Trevor's site, he invented the medals and he can apply them however he wishes. The system ain't broke; it just doesn't always seem fair.

   

I did not in any way suggest the system was broke. Like everyone else on this site I have the right to voice my opinion,which is exactly what I did.

Who does honestly care about them? The medals from my understanding were just something people could toss around and have fun with. Like when you had the babe medal for a while. They are not worth losing sleep over though or really need much thought put into them. Who gets one or who doesn't really has little relevance and I just fail to see how having a box next to your name means the world to some people.

I won all my medals so far with landslide votes for "yes". A little to no "no" votes.

My Uber Canuck one, not sure how many yes's I got for that one, but I believe the entire nomination thread ended up 4 pages long...

Hockey Fan, once again, landslide votes of yes.

I have yet to get one with only 3 "yes's" that if "no's" counted, i wouldn't get the award.
