I'm all for it as long as the schools have a proven track record in attendance and effectively dealing with truancy. I'd also like to see these funds kept separate from the bands general revenue. There have been too many instances where funds meant for teachers pay & pensions, school upkeep and educational programs have gone missing at Band run schools.

Sure, the band gets $$ 's but it's the EDUCATION director-counselor-whatever Title who has 'control' of the monies too, and ALL band monies require FN's ASK govt Indigenous minister(s) for those $$ via documentation (BCR) similar to proposals before $$ released. Once $$ deposited, yes, band does do ... whatever with the $$ and band members can't do anything because former cons govt allows corruption and zero consequences- all powers are 'centralized' and no FN leadership have to listen to what the people want.
