Proof? Make some phone calls!
Cdn bear, creatorschild has given you names & places - what do you want him/her to do? Can't you figure it out from here, or are you afraid of the truth?
There is no way to count the number of dogs killed on reserves. That information is not exactly published is it? Does someone on the res call the humane society and say 'hey, we just killed 25 dogs'. Given the number of res's in Canada, and the number of dogs I would say the number killed yearly is quite high.
If you have the guts to email or call World Society for Protection of Animals maybe they can give you the number. Your local SPCA or rescue shelter takes in a lot of the res dogs in your area - give them a call & ask. You know there's a problem, as ANYONE, who lives on or off a res is aware. You admitted there is a problem in one of your posts on this thread, then you deny it and want proof. You are chicken.
Part of the problem is that FN feels powerless, so to make themselves feel more powerful, they hurt or kill helpless animals. Kids aren't immune from the violence; more kids are hurt by their relatives on many res's than by any dogs. You don't seem to get it. Is the concept of people hurting animals equals people hurting kids too hard for you?
Maybe you should check out the video ANIMAL FARM.
I guess some FN's are proud to be third world in their treatment of animals? And Cdn Bear, maybe you had a dog you liked. If so, why don't you do something for other dogs out there who are suffering? And you know they are.

Look you raving racist fucktard, you already have one thread that your getting creamed in, why start another on the same topic???
I didn't make the claims!!! YOU DID.
I did not use bigotry and racist remarks to attack an entire cultural group!!! you did.
I did not admit anything. I stated that there was an issue with strays on the reserves in the north. But hardly the emotional and bigoted hysterical situation, you managed to make it, you bigot.
I am not going to phone anyone and waste my money to prove you right or wrong. You made the claim, now back it up. Something of which you have not been able to do. You have posted a few sites that have identified two reserves, my research provided two different reserves. That makes four, gawd only knows you can not do the math.
Further more, your links have also identified Non Native communities. Why have you not jumped up their collective asses???
I'll tell you why...
YOU ARE A FUCKING IGNORANT BIGOT!!!
That is why.
You have not established that it is a Canada wide reserve epidemic, nor have you proven "ALL" Natives are doing or contributing to it, as you have asserted. Why???
Becuse you can not.
Because it is not true.
I'm not scared or ashamed, I'm pissed off at assholes like you, that trivialize real issues for making the welfare of animals a greater issue then the welfare of people. Not to mention your blatant bigotry towords First Nations people.
Prove it, post numbers, you yourself claimed that there were bounties, so someone is tallying numbers. You find them and post, back up your BS or it will remain just that, BS.
Toronto killed 3000+ last year. I found there site and posted their numbers. It's called proof. Try finding some. Or shut the fuck up bigot.
You wanted proof that dog shooting exists on many Reserves? Here you go. Now it's up to you to make the necessary HUMANE changes. The help is there. You have only to ask.
SHOOTING DOGS WRONG AND ILLEGAL SAYS THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF CANADA
VANCOUVER, November 24/06 – “No one would allow dogs to be shot in the financial district of any major city in Canada, so why should it be acceptable on native reserves,” says HSC Executive Director, Michael O’Sullivan, responding to recent news reports that sanction “dog shoot” days when any dog found running loose is killed or wounded with gunfire.
“Any trigger happy moron can pick up a gun and blow away an animal. Victimizing ourselves and others is easy. Instead it takes brains, patience, understanding, kindness and money to do the right thing. But that’s hard work, and the reason why so many people seem willing to take the easy way out,” said O’Sullivan.
Humane solutions can only be accomplished through a carefully structured program of responsible ownership, education, spaying and neutering, money, stiff fines and penalties. ‘Saving Lives: The Humane Society of Canada’s Action Plan to Prevent Dog Bites’ can be found here or by calling toll free 1-800-641-KIND.
“Some have also suggested that because of social and economic conditions on native reserves that these are legal and moral excuses for such activities. Regrettably, in our opinion, we are deeply concerned that such racial overtones mean that we should simply accept that native people living on reserves should not be expected to take better care of their animals -- and further that native people and their animals deserve less consideration and legal protection than people and their animals living elsewhere in Canada. This is simply wrong,” he said.
Over the past 35 years, the animal charity’s staff has worked across Canada and in many developing nations under harsh conditions and believes these are not an excuse for cruelty to animals.
“The Humane Society of Canada is willing to offer whatever support we can to bring a humane and effective solution to the problems facing people and animals. Rather than yelling ‘lock and load’, we need more government action for public safety initiatives that save the lives of people and animals,” said O’Sullivan.

Holy shit, is this guy saga version 2.0?!
Part of the problem is a lack of animal control services up north. We lived in a couple northern reserves and they all had feral dog problems. A lot of these problems could be cured by flying in a vet and some veterinary medicine students for a week, every few months. Then people who have dogs can have them spayed or neutered. Sometimes a hunt is required when disease sets in or the dogs turn mean. Fines also need to be imposed on those who abuse their animals or just turn them loose.

Is english your second language???
What don't you get about "PROVE IT" yourself. I'm not doing your foot work. Get over it, you got verbally smacked out and exposed as having more then just an issue with animal rights on the rez, you are a bigot, no big deal, if you just wonder through life blind and stupid, infecting no one.
The dogs shouldn't be killed that could be Arctic_menices family members, you know. That reincarnated to those animals. lol.

Wrong! I can go down to the pet store today and buy myself a collie and put a round in her tonight and feed the carcas to the pigs and it is not against the law.

Are you equating shooting a dog with "thou shalt not kill"? What if the dog is tasty and it's all there is to eat?
